Leather (Poem)

A ride on the trail, with the dust and heat, enduring the saddle.

As I shifted, the leather creaked,
The scent of leather and horse leaked,

Flies buzzed nearby, as horse drank deep,
Good day for ride, onward I keep,

I shifted again, leading Rusty,
From water hole to trail dusty,

Dust kicked up in our wake, floating,
Making the day hotter – bloating,

Leather saddle felt good but could
Turn both legs into stumps of wood,

So, I purposed to only go
Another mile on this ride so,

I love the smell of trail leather,
And just endure soreness later.
