I am not saying drugs are good or bad, I have done them and dont any longer. Just sharing some thoughts and asking for your opinions.

Legalize Drugs : Yes or No?

Before I get the hammer slam from a lot of people here let me just say I have been there done that in the drug life --

My Confessions Of A Former Drug User : My very candid experiences.

This post is not about me saying drugs are good for you, it is about questioning whether they should be legalized.
They are illegal because of health dangers right? Ehem, cigarettes, alcohol ? Legalized and taxed and there is no crime related to getting either of them.

Making drugs illegal actually costs the taxpayers more as I see it, more crime equals more police, more police equals more arrests, more arrests equal more prison inmates and add to that gang wars over "turf" for illegal sales and drug related murders. When is the last time someone was murdered over cigarettes? Oh yeah! In prison by someone who was arrested for illegal drug possession or sales and trafficking.

You know its funny, the government accepted the "My body, my choice" statement to make it legal to murder babies in abortion clinics but you cannot say
"My body my choice" in regards to what you put in your body and can survive... why? Because making it illegal is something that empowers a police run country and keeps people in lower class lifestyles in lower class lifestyles.

There are penalties for being drunk or driving impaired, they can impose the same laws to drugs as well as drug alcohol awareness and understanding classes to those who have crossed that line of control.

YOUR OPINIONS ?????? I can honestly say that if drugs were legalized there are a couple I would do, hell I did them when they were illegal so why not when legal.
I know a lot of people who have said the ONLY reason they dont do drugs is because they are illegal... My mother being one of those people.

There are drugs that are controlled because if their effects and which should only be used with a doctor's consent. If certain drugs were branded as illegal, it means it can give some bad effects to the body on a long term use. So in my opinion, why make these drugs legal if it has a tendency to ruin somebody's life?

It wouldn't be wise to legalize drug. More people will abuse it and it triggers more crime because drug itself bring negative influence

If drugs cause crime, why aren't we experiencing record levels of crime as drugs are more accessible now than ever before, crime has fallen for several years although arrests have significantly increased. As far as health affects., I ask you to name ONE legal drug that doesn't pose health risks if abused or used for long periods of time including potential side effects. The war on drugs is an international social control program designed to oppress and marginalize targeted group

Drug prohibition enforcement targets and affects mostly poor people of color. With alcohol prohibition, when the deaths of white men started racking up (400 per year in Chicago alone), the war was ended and made legal. The ongoing violence in our country is the direct result of prohibition and the blackmarket created by it. Black youth are killing each other at unbelievable rates, the violence in Mexico has taken nearly 80,000 beautiful lives. Alcohol is more addictive than nearly all illegal drugs, causes more deaths each year than any drug. Tobacco being nearly 90% addictive to people who try it kills 3x as many as alcohol. Legalizing may cause a slight uptick in usage by curious people, however most choose not to use for reasons other than the substance being illegal

If drug war supporters were so concerned for the health and safety of our children, why is it they feel that imposing sentences longer than murder to non violent otherwise lawful citizens many whom are parents, and destroying millions of families on the pretext of potential possible harms, is just. Fact is most users of drugs do so responsibly only a small percentage suffer from addiction. Drugs dont cause people to steal and commit crimes, these are criminals who happen to use drugs. Before the war on drugs there was no need for the average citizen to be armed, and if so it was a knife or bat, however since its inception and hollywoods and the music industries glorification of the drug and gangster lifestyle that attittude has shifted. Most drug dealers do so without harming anyone, however some do. Much of the violence is the result of drug dealers being targets to thieves and robbers and bad business deals. Dealers cant call the cops and say someone stole my dope or robbed me because im a dealer so they are left with the option to do nothing and potentially be robbed again by the same persons or others who suspect they'll get away with it, or to carry a weapon to defend themselves.., all while knowing involving a weapon increases the charges they'll recieve if ever caught with the two together. As if the law would rather they be subjected to robberies and thefts unarmed while potential holding cash or drugs. Many drug dealers play the same role as a bartender, know their customers familes and issues, in other words a friend. Not this hooded sagging pant image given to use by the media and those who use the media to miseducate and influence our beliefs to gain support for their otherwise criminal misrepresentation of facts

Cigarettes are the biggest killer when it comes to drugs, I think they should be made illegal and I smoke them although I am trying to quit. As for other drugs, I think there's one which should be legal but il keep that to myself, except to say its a drug which can be grown naturally.
