This is my first public attempt at a Roundel poem. I hope I don't mess it up too badly but I'm just learning this style.

Life on the Farm

This poem was inspired by my wife's essay "The Farm." Having been raised on a farm myself I know that the words in her story and my poem are true.. I hope you will read her essay. She writes on here as "LittleGirl". Now I hope you enjoy my attempt at a Roundel poem.

Life on the Farm

Life is fun down on the farm
Though the work is often hard
Folks know how to turn on the charm
They raise their food in their yard!

Farmers feed the people on the boulevard
They never do anybody any harm
Farmers hold others in high regard.

Life is simple and without alarm
One can sleep without a guard
With a smile that can disarm
They raise their food in their yard!

I have a 10 acre hobby farm, we kept chickens for eggs and have pet sheep, it is pretty hard to think about eating meat when you get close to your farm animals.
