Modernization makes city's population increasing year by year. The rural people tend to consider to migrate to live in the city.

Whether living in the city is most favorable?

Living in city - City Life Pros and Cons

City is a community where thousands-or even millions-of people live and work. Cities are the world's most crowded places. The percentage of the world's people living in urban places (cities and their surrounding areas) keeps growing. In 1800, only about 2 1/2 percent of the world population lived in urban places. This figure was about 45 percent in 1990, and it is expected to grow to 55 percent by 2010. However, living in the city has many pros and cons. One advantage is that cities offer many activities for residents and visitors, such as job opportunities, entertainments, nightlife, and it is exciting. For instance, restaurants offer food from diverse cultures, department stores sell a wide range of items and hug stadiums enable thousands of people to attend sporting events. Moreover, there are many good educational institutes, like both public and private university, college, high school…and others institutes which provide a variety of subjects and foreign languages that you can learn it easily. To sum up, living in the city provides a good quality of life and modern lifestyle.

Nevertheless, there still have many disadvantages of living in the city. One disadvantage is that city is overcrowded, dirty, and noisy. For example, traffic jams delay people who are trying to travel to work, stores, or other places. Automobiles and electric power plants dirty the air with fumes that endanger people's health. Furthermore, motor vehicles, factories, sirens, and construction equipment create bothersome noise. Finally, city has a high crime rate, and violence sometimes breaks out between racial or religious groups.

All things considered, in my opinion I choose to live in or near cities for several reasons. I can enjoy the rapid pace and bustling activity of city life. However, the main reason I choose cities are the number and variety of educations, and jobs available. The cities of most industrialized nations serve as manufacturing centers, and a manufacturing company might provide jobs to many people, such as factory workers, accountants, and other related fields. Far fewer jobs are available in the cities of developing nations, including most of the countries of Africa, Asia, and Latin America. Even so, large numbers of people flock to these cities searching for work.

One is supposed to move up by moving to cities, but I can see change with technology as one can get work away from cities too with cheaper cost of living, less pollution etc. Also online education will be an equalizer.

I foresee people moving away from polluted cities in the not distant future - siva

Thanks for sharing your article. I like to live close to the big city but in the suburbs. It's the best of both worlds.

Some interesting thoughts. There are certainly pros and cons as to city life and small towns. I don't enjoy the hustle and bustle of big city life but it certainly has it's good points. Blessings.
