Looking Back (Smiling)

The memories weren´t hurtful anymore. Looking back to the past now made the young girl smile brightly.

Only a memory...

Might it had been only a magical illusion,
something that wash´t on the statistics,
but it really existed, indeed existed,
Both in word and profusion.

Something beautiful to remember,
before it gets turned into sad dust
and abandoned into a dark chamber,
slowly devoured by cruel rust.

A handful of never ending days,
along with some beautiful nights,
reminding her of life´s strange ways
to blind us with neon light.

There was no time machine
with enough power to going back
to that same old routine
that kept her on track.

It came to an end,
and there was no time to shed tears,
nor was nothing left to mend,
not even on a hundred years.

And yet, she smiled,
very sweetly, as usual,
like a precious child
staring at something beautiful.

The memories filled up
her young and tender heart,
after the complicated break up
that tore her apart.

it was better than nothing,
holding on to a memory,
that once meant something,
a little more than a sweet melody.
