This is the story of my life, the story of my fears and my nightmares, the story of a struggle of a life time and it happens everyday to good intentioned people, just like you, who have become lost in a world of mirrors.

Lost Within the Shadows of the Mirror

Lost Within the Shadows of the Mirror

This is that hollowness of soul
That comes’ calling with a vengeance
When the cats’ away.
The things we do
In times of weakness
When life has left us

With no spark at all
To light us a smile with.

The Softened Darkness

Times when the softened darkness
Shines a little warmer
And crawls a little deeper
Under our skin
Until we begin
To find a certain comfort
Within the darkness and the shadows.

Antipathy Slides

Somewhat slowly at first,
Until with a seeming ease
Antipathy
Slides
almost effortlessly
Into our veins,
And into our dreams,
Like an ancient disease
Crawls into a weakened body
Starved of any Goodly nourishment.

This is when we learn
Our stale station in life,
Our place at the end of the line
And if we’re lucky
We die quickly and painlessly
In some back alley.

A Time Will Come

And if we are not,
Hopefully a time will come
When we can search for ways
To crawl up and out of our bottles,
To crawl out from under the weight of our pills
From under the pain
Of our spoons and syringes

And into a place
Where we can begin
To feel human again.

A Struggle of a Life Time

But this is a struggle
Of a life time,

And there is no reason
Nor rhyme
Not to try the climb
When you finally come to realize
That you’re the monster
Who lives
Within your children’s eyes.

I have been writing since the beginning of time it seems, not because I want to write, but because I have too. My favorite form of writing is poetry, all kinds and types of poetry.

this is lovely and so true, even i can identify when those demons come bounding out of the mirror, but we can indded control them nd emerge wiser and stronger for that.

Thanks Genki, I must say it is a place I never ever thought I would be, but in a way I'm glad I was. I can see both sides now and it's really quite a view.

Thanks Shamarie, that pic was taken one early Thursday morning in my front yard...The moon was there and I had to shot...You know how it is...Camera in hand and the prey right above you.

Yes, My father was the monster for me, but he's gone now, and now the monster still lives in me, being me.

Your poetry is all so sad in a non-hurtful way, because it speaks of the truth, that we have painfully called our monster, thanks Utah Jay

Thanks Nancy, but to make it easy on you it is about recovery, and I think that at some time or another we have all had to recover from something.

Thanks spirited, indeed, I think we all have our monsters inside, hiding in plain sight.
