Louisiana Voodoo

When voodoo was first introduced to Louisiana, the French would not approve or tolerate the religion. The French were catholic. They wanted the slaves to become Catholics too. The slaves did not give up their ancient beliefs. The slaves often displayed rosary beads to trick the French into believing that they had turned catholic. It was then that Catholic and African beliefs were blended into one. This is when the new religion came about, called voodoo.

In voodoo, it is believed that nature and natural objects are living and have life. The Native Louisiana Indians’ religion is very similar to voodoo. People who practice voodoo do believe in God, but they also believe in many other spirits.

Voodoo is often used to ward off evil or to gain spirit blessings. To do this the voodoo priests use magic, spells, chants, potions and charms. Their strong power is used to help people and it can also be used to harm people.

There is a light side and a dark side to voodoo. The dark side is called hoodoo. In Louisiana, voodoo is still practiced today. Marie Laveau was known as the voodoo queen in New Orleans where she practiced for quite some time. She is buried in a cemetery in New Orleans where thousands visit her grave each year and leave tokens and gifts and request protection by her spirit.

Well the fact is that it is a Dark Art that is used to destroy many lives using figurines apart from other elements around.
Sadly most of the white population in America is European resulting in Wiccan principles trying to harness the forces of nature being practiced. The truth comes that the African slaves who were brought intermingled with the Indian of Mississippi bringing about the race that are Black American today. They have combined arts with the Indian and African generation that show ancestral worship that could be connected together to evoke a different kind of following which may actually not be of Dark Art.
Its just like the bible that has curses and dark practice causing the Ahab and Jezebel syndrome amongst many others including wrong interpretation of erstwhile practices.
