Max was busy making plans for his trip to the old homestead. He was stricken with illness and sidelined to his bed. He's been in bed for two days and nights. He needs to find a way to get his strength back and get to Danielle.

Antibiotics for Max

Miss Renee checked on Max early the next morning. He was still very sick. Actually he was too sick to go to the clinic. There was a raging blizzard outside and he would never make it there feeling the way he did. Miss Renee decided to make the trip by herself. Max had helped her with the generator many times. She wanted to repay the kindness by getting him some medicine. She left the rooming house just before 9 a.m. If her luck held out she'd explain to the nurse that Max was too sick to leave his bed and she would get some antibiotics for him. The clinic wasn't that far but the weather was bad. When she looked out the window she could barely see because of the blowing snow. Miss Renee bundled up the best she could and walked out the door. Hopefully this wouldn't take more than an hour and she'd be back in her warm house.

A pot of tea

Miss Renee had left Max with a fresh pot of tea. He needed to get some liquids into his body. He was having a really hard time. For one thing he was sick and he didn't know how he was going to get to Danielle. That was worrying him more than anything. He just wanted to spend some time with her. They'd been away from each other for too long now. Max sipped on his tea. The warm liquid felt good on his sore throat. He did feel weak and he seriously needed to find a way to get his strength back. He laid back on his pillow. He could hear the wind blowing outside his window. He said a little prayer of thanks for Miss Renee. She was out in the bad weather for him.

A fresh quilt for Max

Before Miss Renee left she had given Max a fresh quilt for his bed. She'd taken his old quilt when she put the new one on his bed. She thought of everything for her tenants. The quilt smelled so fresh that it was a blessing for Max. It was the little things that counted when someone was sick. Max said a prayer of thankfulness.

Miss Renee at the clinic

It took Miss Renee about 20 minutes to get to the clinic. As soon as she walked in she saw a friend of hers. She walked up to her and told her what she needed. The policy at the clinic was to see the patient but Miss Renee said Max was too sick. They could hear the howling wind outside. Luckily for Max the nurse decided the best thing to do was give Miss Renee the antibiotics. Miss Renee hugged her friend as she gave a sigh of relief. Now all she had to do was get back to the rooming house and give Max his medicine. She pulled on her gloves and hat and out the door she went. The streets were empty. People were staying inside out of the cold.

The rooming house

Miss Renee made it back home safely. She went up to Max's room and gave him his medicine along with a fresh pitcher of water. The directions on the medicine was to take it every 6 hours. Miss Renee made Max some hot chicken soup and served it to him in bed. By dinner time Max was actually starting to feel hungry. The terrible chills were gone and he felt a little stronger. Miss Renee told him to stay in bed until he regained his strength. He asked if there was a bible that he could read. Psalms was his favorite book of the bible and he wanted to read for awhile. He fell asleep with the bible in his hand.
