Love of first youth

This is a romantic poem sung by a young woman, passionately in love.

Love of first youth

My cheeks flush deep crimson,
my eyes shine with light, so blazon,
when your love touches my soul ever.
Ah, my heart, I shiver!

Ache so piquant and zest,
throbs my every nerve, never rests.
Pain though it is but very sweet,
when my eyes with yours, my lover, meet.

So fervent, your fragrance my lover,
Engrosses my senses with amour.
The very air, my life, I breathe,
Smells of you, yes you, my need!

Not for a fragment of a second am I alone,
for your thoughts surround me when you are gone.
I see you, I touch you, I feel you,
even when you aren’t near, know you?

The life seems genial, the world so grand.
The flowers, the birds, the river and sand,
all appear so fair, so vivid and in mirth,
when my heart sings your songs in utter blithe.
