A poem dedicated to the memory of one of the greatest men that ever lived, Nelson Mandela.

The news was really sad today
so many millions cried
a world was now in mourning
when we heard that Nelson died.

A black cloud over Africa
as he was an inspiration
he fought the white's for equal rights
the father of his nation.

Thatcher said, a terrorist
to me that couldn't be
how can you be a terrorist
fighting to be free?

He stood to fight the white man
he stood for what was right
no more would the black man
be crushed beneath their might.

His "masters" didn't like it
his first attempts would fail
as they took the easy option
and sent the man to jail.

Twenty seven years in jail
ironic that, to me
they stuck him in a tiny cell
for fighting to be free.

He was sent to robben island
then later pollsmoor too
the world around was sleeping
the likes of me and you.

Then back in nineteen ninety
the whole world did campaign
white "masters" with no option
set him free again.

He soon became the president
how could he ever know
international plaudits
in excess of two five o.

He won the nobel peace prize
and awards from every nation
honours came in many forms
freedom his creation.

Africas now different
and everyone can see
a black man fought the tyranny
Madiba R.I.P.
