Make the Most of Wikinut

Wikinut offers a few different ways to earn, but the amount of money you make and your success essentially depends upon you.

What is your topic?

Wikinut is an ideal site for writing about a certain niche topic that you have knowledge of and a passion for. You don't have to choose just one topic but writers who develop a profile with different pages that address different aspects and slants of a topic often have more readers. This is because the writer is establishing themselves as an "expert" on the topic. These writers may find that the comments on their pages are filled with discussion and questions from interested readers.

The first step to making the most of Wikinut is to decide what your topic of choice will be. For example: I tend to write mostly about writing because it is a subject that I am passionate about, that I feel I have a lot to offer to other writers on the subject and because I can write what I know rather than spending a lot of time researching the topic. My life as a freelance writer, eBook author, website owner and blogger is my research. This isn't to say that I don't write about other topics here on Wikinut because I do, but you will notice that most of my pages are related to writing in some way.

Do You Promote Your Pages?

There is a little thing called SEO, or search engine optimization which requires using keywords and search terms to help people using search engines discover your pages. SEO may seem to be complicated but it really just requires that you tightly focus your page on a specific area and use common keywords that searchers might put into a search engine like Google if they are looking for your topic. SEO is one way to promote your work just by having it appear on search pages. You should practice SEO strategies whenever you are writing for the Internet.

On the other hand self promotion is also good for getting the word out about your work. When you share the handy short links that Wikinut provides at the top of your pages you can direct your friends and followers on social networks to your pages. Word will begin to spread if they like your work and share it with their friends and followers.

The second step to making the most of Wikinut is to promote your work. I have found that when I don't do promotion for my Wikinut pages I have a lower average of page views than when I include Wikinut links in my Twitter and Facebook promotion activities. But keep in mind that promotion is fine, but if you expect your friends and followers to participate in your activities and take time to visit your pages, you must also do the same and to be a great friend or follower you should always make sure to share some other people's links. Also, the idea of social networking is to be social; if you never interact other than to share your links you may find that you have far less followers and friends.

Do You Read Other Writers Pages?

Think about your pages, when you receive a comment don't you click that writers name to see more about them? How about reading and commenting on their pages while you are there? Being a reader and commenting on other writers pages will lead them to do the same for you.

The third step to making the most out of Wikinut is to actively participate in reading and commenting throughout the site. I try to visit the profile page of everyone who comments on my pages. I also read their pages and try to leave a comment there as well. This carries over into my blogging and websites as well, it is just a given that to have success as an online writer you have to interact with other writers and your readers as well.

If You Do...

If you do the three things above you will notice that your page views, comments and of course your earnings on Wikinut will improve. There are also other things you can do including learning How to Write Good Web Content, and How to Write a Great Wikinut Page. You could also look into becoming a moderator and refer other writers to sign up for Wikinut. Every activity that you engage in that relates to Wikinut will help improve your results and help you get the most out of Wikinut.

Ultimately Wikinut writers can also promote other Wikinut writers too.
If I see something I know other people will like - I often share it, usually on Webtoid, Reddit, Facebook or Twittley.
I have linked other writers pages to my own.
In my most recent article I used another writers link about Wikipedia NOT being a legit source, and have often shared Denices articles on Facebook.
Good article Suzalice, hopefully others will read it and learn.

You're right Mark, I have several people who joined Wikinut under me and I always try to read and share their pages as well as my own. I get a bit impatient when I'm working on a page and don't always link to as many other Wikinut pages as I could.

Nice solid advice which for anyone just starting out on wikinut would be invaluable. I like the fact that whilst you can establish yourself as an expert you can also use your wikinut articles to explore other niches to see if they will be popular as a seperate blog.

I'm glad that I was able to clear that up for you, that was one of my biggest challenges when I started writing web content, the other thing that goes along with SEO is LSI- it's a little more difficult to explain but easier to write. It involves the natural long tail keywords that relate to the SEO keywords to keep your pages form being stilted and repetitive by plugging in the keywords so many times.

That's the reality of life!
Success only comes when you get access into others hearts like they get access into yours! Symbiotic relationship; you scratch my back I scratch yours! Scratch, scratch and only scratch becomes a scrap! Nice article!

Thank you SuzAlicie, It's hugely informative and worthy of the accolades, however, would you kindly elaborate some more on your hands-on methods of research into subject matter, really, step-by-step stuff like...(a) Use M.S.Word and not Notepad because... (b) Formatting means... Forward formatting is...etc. Thank you.

Though written two years ago, the topic is still relevant. I get equal satisfaction in reading and commenting on others posts the same way I get from posting my articles and reading comments on them - siva
