This poem I wrote with so much joy when President Mandela was release from prison. I was bullied by a friend to send it to South Africa House and ask them to forward it to him, which they did. I received a parcel from Pretoria three months after with a gift of a plague in five languages signed by him , which I framed and is now hanging on my wall. I also send him a copy of my poetry book with his poem.

Mandela, Mandela,
You are free at last!
Your wisdom kept you safe,
Your patience was well
You have turned your shame to
into honour.

Mandela, Mandela,
You are a source of hope,
You will bring joy to the
broken hearted,
Victory to the poor
God did hear your prayers
As you knelt on your
lonely room floor.

Mandela, Mandela,
God has blessed you
in a very special way,
He spared your life
To have his own way,
"Because you and only you"
Could have opened doors
That were never opened before.

Let Me!

If a tender word from me
will bring joy to someone
If a touch from me
will give someone
an inner spark,
If a hug from me
will fill someone
with security,
Then let me speak that word,
Let me, reach out and touch,
Let me, hug that someone,
As I travel along,
It will never be too much.

Lovely poems with deep feeling, thanks Hope. Mandela is now free in every way and should be blessing us from up there - let us prove ourselves worthy - siva
