Sometimes life becomes 'hum drum' and we feel the need to escape even if the grass is indeed not greener on the other side. A reality check sometimes makes us face up to a loveless marriage.

Marriage Trap - A Life and Relationship Poem

Marriage a girls predetermined destiny
7 years later she wants to break free
Tired of cleaning and making the tea
She's forgotten who 'she' was supposed to be.

The laughter is all but done
Day after day she still trudges on
The big wedding a self-fulfilling con
What's left for her now the romance is gone?

The children put to bed by 8 o'clock
Left alone to finish another bar of choc
He said he was going for 'one' in the pub
Lock up at midnight he's gone onto a club.

What happened to the girl with a dream?
The young lovers an unbreakable team?
She's put on weight no denying it's true
His compliments are far and few.

She dreams of turning back the hands of time
When he would text her and take her out to dine
Now life seems one muddy up hill climb
Balancing bills, stretching pennies and dimes.

She wants to pack up and run
Escape all the chores and 'hum drum'
Go to a place with a beach and a fayre
Ride on the 'Waltzer' with sea breeze in her hair.

She wants to buy large cones of ice-cream
Sit people watching and live out her dream
Have fun, dance, laugh, let off steam
Tired of scrubbing the lavatory clean.

Sitting at the table a tear free-falls down her face
Her marriage is a sham a Divorce Lawyers case
She'll tell him straight, it will be easier now
Her mind is made up, she's expecting a row.

Life is too short, she'll start again
Put to rest her dreams of 'Barbie and Ken'
She'll somehow survive, find her own space
Make a new home, rejoin the Human Race.

That is the trouble with great expectations I guess, real life all too often intervenes and is seldom as rosy as any young girl's dreams. Another powerful and well written poem..You are quite the poetess my friend..

Sorry you are having such a bad time in your married life, think its time for the two of you, go on a childless honeymoon and get pampered.

Eleven years of marriage,
Back to my dream.
With a child in hand,
Nothings' too extreme.
For I believe,
In the one Above,
Who showers me,
With utmost love.
For I am blessed,
With a gift of life,
All just legal,
as wedded wife.
Taking over again,
After a break.
The best decision,
I could ever make.
It taught the husband,
The value of wife.
Now he works,
Making a better life.
Helping her in chores,
All through.

Well, I get the husband and child to do chores so that they are able to have fun and games as a family. Never a dull day in life. If that is not enough, have kids coming home to learn music alongside my family. It gives methe gift of love from the heavens Above on GoldenAngel Wings....

Thank-you all for your kind words friends. I have been married for 22 years and he hasn't murdered me yet! ( I think I have been saved by my delicious stew and spong cakes).
