Max and Danielle were torn apart by war. Destiny brought them back together again. Their love will last an eternity.

Spring on the farm

Spring is a very hectic time on the farm. Max has been busy getting all the equipment ready to plant the crops. The economy is improving slowly. The gas stations are opening and fuel deliveries are being made. That in itself will make it easier for the planting season. The farm hands are a God send at this time of year. There's more than enough work for everyone. It's still hard to come across parts so the farmers barter with each other. As Max goes about his day he gives thanks for Danielle. He will never miss a chance to tell her how much he loves hers. She is his life and without her he is just a shadow of himself. He spent many sleepless nights thinking she was gone.

A new chance in life

It was almost lunch time when Max came up from the barn. Danielle was working in her flower garden. He watched her kneeling down in the dirt planting flowers. There was a gentle breeze and he could see strands of her hair blowing in the wind. There were times when he couldn't believe she was his. He would touch her arm and feel the softness of her skin. She was the only woman he ever wanted. As he got closer to the flower garden he saw a butterfly land on one of the flowers. Danielle reminded him of a gentle butterfly. She had grown from a child into a woman of grace and beauty and she was all his. He had been given another chance with the woman he loved.

Making plans for dinner

Max held out his hand to help Danielle up. She had dirt on her hands and needed to wash up before lunch. Danielle was a very happy soul. To look into Max's eyes was a gift from heaven. He had the most beautiful light blue eyes. A person could get lost just looking into those eyes. He was everything she wanted in a man. He was strong, good looking and had a heart of gold. He loved her too which counted for more than what Danielle could put into words. They walked into the farm house holding hands. The kitchen smelled really good. Danielle had put a pot of vegetable soup on the stove this morning. Max got the soup bowls out of the cupboard while Danielle went to clean up. He had the table set and the soup in the bowls by the time she came back downstairs. He'd even made a cheese plate for both of them to share. They sat at the kitchen table to have their lunch. They had sweet tea with soup and crackers. The soup did taste good but Danielle couldn't help but think that sharing lunch with Max made the food taste even better. During lunch they made plans for the evening hours. Max wanted to have a candlelit dinner and Danielle was all for it. She'd spent many nights alone and to spend a night with Max was a wonder in itself.

Finishing the chores

After lunch Max went back to the barn to finish working on the big tractor. He'd been lucky enough to find all the parts he'd needed. Jake had brought the very last tool he'd needed to finish up his job. He was anxious to get back up to the farmhouse and to Danielle. He wanted to ask Danielle to marry him but he didn't have a ring to offer her. He didn't have enough money to buy her a ring even if there were any jewelry stores open. He wanted everything to be perfect so he was going to have to wait until the right time. The time would come when they could marry at the little church down the road. Max wanted that more than anything. He was a romantic at heart. Danielle was probably the only person in the world that knew that about him.

The candlelit dinner

Max finished his work and came in early. He wanted to cook dinner for Danielle. Since he'd been back to the farm she'd done all the cooking. He wanted to pamper her and make her feel like a queen. She was his queen and that's how he wanted her to feel. Max put a roast in the oven with potatoes and carrots. The roast had come from the butcher shop in town. It was one of the first stores to reopen after the truce was signed. Jake the farm hand had actually picked it up when he went into town. It was going to make a nice dinner. It was a big roast and Max knew that Danielle would make sandwiches with the leftovers for lunch tomorrow. That thought made him smile. When Danielle came in the kitchen she was delighted to see Max making dinner for her. She was starving so they sat down to eat at the dining room table. Max lit the candles and they enjoyed a quiet meal together.

Dusk in the country

After dinner Max and Danielle went out to sit on the front porch. They sat down on the swing and watched the sun go down. Max was very contented to have Danielle by his side. It looked like there was going to be a full moon tonight. When Max looked up at the moon he thought back to many times he'd seen the moon before but he'd never felt as good as he did right at this moment.

Your writing includes the lovely details of ordinary days that you bring to our attention. We gloss over these in our writing, perhaps because we gloss over them in our lives. But you, YOU, bring out these details for the importance they have. Your tale is a mosaic with words!

In a way it looks like peace after a dreadful war, everything is hunky dory. I do hope our lives mirror that of Max and Danielle but I have to catch up fast on my cooking skills! Thanks Nancy for this uplifting chapter - siva
