This is a poem I wrote on my Grandads Birthday. He passed away after a extremely tough battle with cancer. He was more than a grandparent, he was a friend. The person who gave me strength even when he became week.

Birthdays without you

I wish I could see you,
Be so close I could touch you.
Run right into your arms where I once use to hug you.
Tell you sweet secrets just between you and I.
Whisper so closely how much we all love you.

I know you're gone but some best parts remained,
those memories and keepsakes you left us each day.

You're as close as I keep you,
So your right here in my thoughts.

I carry you with me in case I feel lost.

I may fall and slip from my track, but you will be there to guide me right back.
I know buying you flowers and sending sweet prayers, can't bring you home not even today.

You know if flowers could show just how much we all loved you, we'd pick them and plant them and sow you a meadow.

For now I'm on the bottom level and you're on the top.
But,I'm not as strong as you were dear angel I miss you a lot.

Your not around now Grandad, or not that near, its being two long years since your Birthday was here.
A wise man once thought me that nobody leaves,
they live on through others and those they loved dear.

You made me who I am and I hope that each year,
you party up in heaven while I wish you were here.
