A fictional romantic story about finding love on the internet.

Mia's response

Mia’s response to Steve’s email:

We really do have a lot in common. Firstly it was also my daughter that suggested that I try an online dating service. I haven’t discussed it with my son or told my daughter that I actually did it.
I was also born overseas in the Czech Republic and my family immigrated to the US in 1960. My parents are both deceased but were also married almost 60 years.
My parents brought my sister and I to the US to seek a better life. They believed in education and allowed us both to attend College. My sister became an accountant and I was more interested in the arts and ended with a degree in History and became a teacher. I have been retired for over 2 years and thoroughly enjoy it.

I was married for 20 years to a very interesting man but after much soul searching we divorced and remain friends. He is the father of my children and as such I honour him. I have been single for over 10 years and have enjoyed it. However my daughter is getting married next year and I feel that it would be nice to have a life partner/friend to share the next 30 years or so…

Your wife sounds like she was a wonderful woman. You were very fortunate.

I love to travel, see different places and enjoy different cultures. I haven’t read the book you mentioned but I will have to look it up.

A little about myself; I love a good sense of humour… there was once a story about Joanne Woodward… she said her life with Paul Newman worked because he made her laugh every day. I am compassionate, loving, loyal and a great believer in family. I believe in the concept of the glass half full.
I am a positive thinker and always hope for the best.

I like what you said about no games. I feel the same way.

Steve's hopes and dreams

Steve’s response:
It was awesome reading your email, thank you for being open minded and upfront. Here's another similarity; my daughter is getting married in October too. I am hoping to have found an interesting partner with whom to enjoy the wonderful event. I am looking for a friend who will be my companion, someone I can trust, and share everything with. A partner that doesn't keep secrets, I hope you know what that means? I think I have to let you know a little more about me so as to give you insight of who I am.
Like I told you earlier I am more of a positive person. I get lonely a times but that still doesn't make me want to settle for less. I am not just seeking for any available woman but someone who will give me butterflies each time I think of her. I am looking for someone who is honest, caring, sincere, loyal, lovable and trustworthy, and who has a zest for life. I want to be with a God loving and trustworthy woman, someone that believes in herself as well as her partner, someone who will love me for who I am and not what I have. I am looking for a risk-taker who isn't afraid to fail because if she does, I’ll be right there to pick her up and encourage her to keep it up till she succeeds.

Someone who likes to walk on the beach; likes to go hiking and someone who likes to have some really great conversations. I want someone to cheer me up when I'm down and vice-versa, someone that I can really talk with. Someone I can travel with and enjoy life to its fullest. Does that appeal to you? I hope I haven't asked for too much. I don't think there will be a problem with us becoming good friends. Good things don't come easy but always come to those who wait. I'll stop now and look forward to your reply.
