Todays mobile scooters are becoming bigger and faster and as a result many owners are to be seen on the roads. With this observation in mind I have written this Light hearted Poem.

Mobile Scooter Man - A Short Poem

I am the proud owner of a mobile scooter
I travel the roads like a happy commuter

The problem I've found is other drivers of cars
Who think I should stick to pavements and paths

Daily I leave my home and hit the road
I tend to ignore the Highway code

You never see my face wearing a frown
With my dog in the basket, I head into town

My scooter on the road takes up so little room
but other vehicles tend to shower me in fumes

They are so very friendly with a hello toot on their horn
Some kindly comment that I'm a natural 'trucker' born

Silly drivers think I've forgotten Churchill lived here
As the victory sign they often make clear

One of my problems is the road pothole
If I get stuck it's like a home goal

Nobody realises just how terrible it feels
When I find damaged paintwork and water-logged wheels

Sometimes I meet up with my best friend
We hardly notice tailbacks as we wheelie round bends

We always double up for a laugh and a chat
Big city roundabouts are best and so easy to lap

Sometimes I think road users want us to move fast
But we're quite happy if they speed up and pass

I guess it's true I'm no Emerson Fittipaldi
Under my woolly hat I'm rather a baldy

I like to think I'm a mature Yul Brynner
Except he was taller and definitely thinner

Sometimes they stare as if we're from mars
Just because they drive shiny, new cars

I think my add on decorations make my scooter look just right
A nodding dog , a fake fox tail , make such a pleasing sight

I think scooter ownership I may have to reconsider
I'll sell it on Ebay to the highest bidder

No that's just way too extreme
Me and my scooter make such a good team

I may have to think about a better way to travel
If I don't arrive safely then my plans will unravel

Maybe it's time to swap pavements for roads
And say goodbye to traffic and their heavy loads.
