Mobile firefighter Brad Cox/ Dauphin Island Fire Chief injured in blaze

Four homes were burnt up by the blaze before the fire could be contained and extinguished. Chief Brad Cox was taken to USA medical Hospital with burns to his body and two other firefighters were also taken to the hospital for smoke inhalation.

Fire Chief injured in blaze

Dauphin Island volunteer fire department was dispatched around 1 a m Tuesday morning October 5, 2010 to a house fire on 550 Barcelona Drive. When volunteers arrived on the scene at Barcelona Drive they were in for a battle. Smoke and fire was coming from the residence and wind had blown flames to close by homes setting them on fire.

Volunteer Firefighters was faced not with only with one home on fire but now was facing four homes on fire. Chief Cox knew then he needed help so he quickly radioed for assistance. Seven Hills, Fowl River, Grand Bay, St Elmo and other volunteer departments quickly responded to the call for help.
