Molly did a little investigation on her own and now she's back home with her family. It had been a long walk back from the victim's beach house and Molly is tired. Her paws hurt and she has a little sunburn. She's going to continue looking for clues without involving Dad.

The afternoon siesta

Molly was soaking her paws. It was nice to be home with her family. The walk on the hot beach had taken a lot out of her. She thought back over what she'd learned at the beach house. The only clue of any interest to her was a Phoenix newspaper. She would have to gain access to Dad's computer and see what was going on in Phoenix. There may have been a bank robbery or possibly a murder. Molly would have to do some research. She had learned over the years that anything was possible.

An ocean swim

At some point Molly fell asleep on the couch and was dreaming that she was on the boardwalk. She was being chased by some guy and he almost caught her when she woke up. The kids were running through the house yelling that they wanted to go swimming. Molly felt like a truck had driven over her. The heat of the day had nearly finished her off. Milly was the smart one in the group because she was refusing to go outside when it was hot. There was just the slightest possibility that Molly should listen to her. Molly was hoping that Dad would go to the beach with mom and the kids. That would give Molly access to his computer. She had some investigating to do and she needed his computer. She could put Phoenix in the search engine and investigate crimes in the area. Mom came out of the bedroom in her bathing suit and Dad was still sleeping. That told Molly that her plan would have to wait. She decided to watch one of her favorite crime shows. She got some really good ideas from her shows.

Sunset at the beach

By the time mom and the kids came in from the beach the sun was starting to set. Everybody was hungry and mom made a quick dinner. Dad was on his computer and Milly was reading her magazines. Molly had fallen asleep again watching her crime show. She was hungry and could sure go for one of those hotdogs on the boardwalk. Mom made hamburgers and they were good. There were French fries too and Molly loved fries. Dad finally put down the computer and said he was going for a walk. Molly watched him carry his laptop in the bedroom and shut the door. She was so close to having access to the computer but she had to do it in secret because she didn't want Dad to know she was striking out on her own. Some things were better off kept to herself. Molly heard the front door shut and she waited till everyone was busy and went in Dad's room. Molly tried to find the computer but she had no luck. She checked the night stand but it wasn't there and she looked in a few drawers but it wasn't there and then she remembered the closet. She opened the door and there it was on the top shelf. It was too high for her so she gave up and went back to watch her crime shows. If Molly didn't know better, she'd think Dad was on to her, and put the computer out of her reach on purpose. He wouldn't do that would he?

The crime scene

By the time Dad got on the beach it was almost dark. He wanted to go over by the volleyball nets and check out the crime scene. From what he knew the body had been found face down. According to the coroner the victim had been murdered about 3:00 p.m. Dad was going to start asking around for any witnesses. Somebody must have been on the beach at that time of day. Dad was looking out toward the water and noticed the water was getting choppy. The last thing they needed was a summer storm. Their beach rental was right on the water's edge.

Milly's Intuition

Milly was laying on the love seat closest to the living room window. She could see the ocean from where she was and the water was starting to look kind of scary. Big waves were coming in and the last wave that Milly watched came clear up on the beach. The news was on and Milly decided she better listen to the weather. If a storm came Milly knew they weren't very safe in a house that was on the water's edge. Who's idea was it to come on this vacation anyway? Dad walked in the front door while Milly was listening to the weatherman. They were calling for stormy weather with high winds and some flooding. As far as Milly was concerned they should all pack and go home. The beach house was on stilts but that didn't seem safe to her. She didn't know how to swim. What was a little kitten supposed to do?

The house is certainly not safe as it is too close to the sea; in fact, water is all over the place whether there is storm or otherwise. I am more with Milly's approach - be safe than sorry!

Molly has to be patient as Dad should not think she is becoming a busybody trying to upstage him! Great ride, thanks Nancy - siva

Siva, thanks for the awesome comment. I think I'd leave with Milly. Water scares me on a good day much less during a storm.

LeRain, I loved your comment. The beach sand can get really hot. When we were vacationing at Carolina beach there were certain hours when they actually would say to stay off the beach. The sun was so intense.
