Dad's just picked Molly and Milly up from the pound. He had to pay a heavy fine to get them released. Milly want's to go home to grandma's house and Molly's very quiet. They are both in a lot of trouble. Dad's not talking and everyone's dreading going home. Milly will be surprised if they ever get to see the light of day again.

The long ride home

The ride home seemed like the longest ride ever. As they drove passed the boardwalk Molly saw a big Ferris wheel. She was sitting next to the window and from what she could see, it looked like everyone was laughing and having a good time. Molly did not want to go on the Ferris wheel but, it would be nice to have some fun. All she ever did was work.

Home at last

Dad pulled up to the house and Molly and Milly were the first ones out of the car. Milly ran for the door in record time. Mom was making dinner and the kids were playing video games. Molly wasn't sure where she should go. They were going to get a big lecture and Dad was going to want some answers. Molly could understand how mad he was. They did exclude him from the investigation but, in their defense there was a good reason for that. Dad liked to follow the law and Molly could get in places where Dad couldn't go. It made perfect sense to her, but Dad's thinking was different, he would say they left him out. There was no way around it, they were going to be forced to explain their actions.

Taking blame

Milly was hungry and was finishing her food when she heard Dad call her name. She took a deep breath and slowly walked into the living room. Milly knew she was going to have to face the music at some point and now was as good a time as ever. She was going to take the blame for the incident. It really was her fault and she had no plans to let Molly take the blame. Milly decided to be a stand up kitten and accept the consequences of her actions. She walked into the living room with her head held high. Molly and Dad were talking in low voices. That was a good sign.

The map

Molly and Dad were looking at a map. Milly heard Dad say there were numbers written all over it. Milly had no idea where the map came from. Molly must have found it while she was sleeping on the couch. Milly wondered how she kept it hidden while they were in lockup. Molly was good there was no doubt about it. Dad seemed pleased about the map. That was a good thing because, it was taking the heat off of Molly and Milly. They were going to have to bring Dad in on the investigation and tell him everything they knew.

The clues

The meeting with Dad went on for hours. Molly told Dad about finding the Phoenix newspaper in the victim's room. Milly came forth and told Dad about the heist in Phoenix. Dad said there might be a connection which was exactly what Molly and Milly were thinking. Now that they were working together, they would be a force to be reckoned with, nobody could doubt that.

Great story Nancy. You should think about making the whole thing into a novel and trying to get it published.

Good that Dad has now realized what teamwork can achieve. That is the way it is supposed to be - all species working in unison, but we don't listen even to our own! Then the baddies have a field day!

By pooling our resources and varied talent, the killer will have no place to hide! Lovely post, thanks Nancy - siva
