Dad and Milly picked Molly up at the police station. She was so happy to see them. Molly's tired and dirty and hungry. All she wants to do is go home and rest.

Going Home

Molly was the first one to walk through the door and Mom came running to give her a hug. Molly hugged her right back. It was good to be home. She was seriously considering giving up undercover work. It was not what it was cracked up to be. There was no glory in it for one thing and it was dangerous. Just thinking about what she'd been through for the past two days made her shiver. She was going to tell Milly that she was throwing in the towel and finding a new way to make a living.

Volleyball tournament

The kids had signed up to play in a volleyball tournament and everyone was going to watch. Molly backed out at the last minute because she was simply too tired. Her legs hurt and even after two baths she still had sand in her fur. She was just going to stay home and watch reruns. The weatherman said it was going to be 105 degrees in the shade and she just didn't feel up to that kind of heat. Milly was in the bedroom catching up on her reading. Everybody left early and the house was quiet. Molly was just starting to fall asleep when she heard a noise at the door.

Unwelcome visitor

Molly figured one of the kids forgot something and came back to get it. She heard the door slam and then it sounded like a chair hit the wall. The kids wouldn't do that. Then she heard heavy footsteps walking through the kitchen. Molly had a bad feeling about this. She was going to yell for Milly but on second thought she didn't want her to get hurt.

The big guy's out on bail

When the big guy came around the corner he looked like a crazy man. His hair was a mess and his shiner did nothing for his looks. This was really bad because Molly really didn't feel up to tangling with this guy today. He'd caused her enough trouble for the rest of her life, which might not be long at this point. Molly really hated him. Grandma said it wasn't nice to hate but he was an exception to the rule.

The motive

The guy was rambling on and on and making no sense whatsoever. Every now and then Molly would hear something that told her what was going on. Evidently his fingerprints had matched the heist in Phoenix. For some reason he was blaming Molly for that. She had nothing to do with the heist so now she was sure he was delusional. He was standing in front of her blaming her for the murder on the beach too. He was admitting that he did it. It was just as Molly thought all along. The guy he'd murdered was blackmailing him. He was under pressure so he killed the guy. Now he was saying he was going to kill her. He made note that the jewels were hidden at the lighthouse. Molly was definitely in trouble and the guy was going to do her in. She wouldn't live to tell anybody where the jewels were hidden.

A plan of action

Molly was trying to figure out a plan when Milly peeked around the door. Molly didn't want Milly to get hurt so she motioned for her to go back in the bedroom. Of course Milly didn't listen and walked along the wall till she was standing behind the guy. When he backed up he fell over Milly and hit his head on the coffee table. He was out cold. Now what were they supposed to do?

Wow, I hope the guy is alright! If he dies, it is going to be hard for Milly to handle!

Shamarie, thank you so much for continuing to follow this summer story. I think you are right about Milly. That would be a lot for her to handle. This summer story is nearing the end but Molly and Milly will be back.

The police should have locked him in for good than let him out on bail. He is definitely up to no good but thank God Molly and Milly have enough time to seek help.

The guy gets his comeuppance and the unforgettable holiday is also coming to a close. Thanks Nancy for this feel good in the end story - siva

Siva, thanks for the awesome comment. I was surprised they let the big guy out on bail and I wrote the story haha. Molly and Milly will be so happy when Mom and Dad pack up the car and they wave goodbye to the beach. It's been quite a summer vacation for the dynamic duo. I love these two characters.

Carol, thanks for the great comment. I can just see Molly and Milly in the living room standing over the big guy. Molly would be trying to figure out what to do and Milly would be scared as could be.

Catching up at last Nancy ..
I think the big guy is taking on more than he knows by messing with our intrepid pair .
sounds like he will be just where the police need to find him , after all , who could possible blame an innocent dog and a cute kitten ? ...No-one would believe him if he tried . : )
Bless you
Stella ><
