Milly's been surfing the net over the last few days. She's been investigating murders and robberies around the country. There was some very interesting information in one of the Phoenix newspapers. Milly's made up her mind to share her discovery with Molly, but she's decided against telling Dad. There was a big jewelry heist and Milly has a hunch on what might have taken place.

Surviving the storm

The storm continued throughout the day and into the night. The wind howled and the rain pelted the windows. At one point Milly truly believed the house was going to end up in the ocean. She was surprised that even Molly wanted to leave. Dad said there was no safe path off the beach until the storm subsided. Mom was very quiet. The lights never went out and that was a blessing.

The sun comes out

At the dawn of the day the storm had gone away. Milly gave a sigh of relief and Molly was ready to get back to her investigation. They'd made it through the storm without floating away. It had been a close call but they lived to tell the story. Mom was frying bacon and Molly could smell biscuits in the oven. Milly was perched on the window sill keeping a keen eye on the water. It was still pretty choppy but at least she could see the beach. Milly never thought she'd be so happy to see sand. She felt like venturing outside but she didn't want to get carried away. It would start getting really hot, now that the sun was out. Milly would stay in the house where she belonged. As everyone knew she favored the controlled environment, not to even mention the fact, that some shark may have washed up on the beach and was waiting to eat her. Milly was taking no chances. She'd be staying in the house.

Molly's alone time

Molly seriously needed to get her paws on Dad's computer. The chances of Dad going anywhere today was not good. The storm was over but it wasn't safe to go outside. The waves were high and the water was choppy, so swimming was out for the day. Molly went in Dad's room and got up on the bed. She decided she'd watch television for a little while. One of her crime shows was coming on. Molly had just got comfortable with all the pillows where she wanted them when Milly came in the room. Molly was trying to have quiet time and now Milly had interrupted her alone time. There was nowhere in this beach house to go for some privacy. Mom was in the kitchen, the kids were in their bedrooms and Dad was in the living room. That left this room and now Milly was in here. Molly just sighed.

Milly confides in Molly

Milly climbed up on the bed and Molly tried to ignore her. It didn't work because Milly had picked this particular time to talk. It was obvious that Molly's crime show was on but that didn't matter. Milly was getting on Molly's nerves. Molly tried to tune her out but then she got right in Molly's face. Molly could feel her face getting red and she really didn't want to be mean to Milly. Finally she decided to just listen to whatever it was that Milly was trying to tell her. The more Milly talked the more Molly started paying attention. The fact that Milly had found a way to get access to Dad's computer amazed Molly, then to know that she had been on the internet searching for recent crime sprees. There was a small possibility that Molly wasn't giving Milly enough credit. The Phoenix heist did sound like it was something Molly should check out but she still needed Dad's computer to do it.

Thanks Mark for the comment. I'm thinking Milly might actually be the one to solve the crimes but I could be wrong. We shall see.

Molly has learned a lesson too - not to underestimate anyone even if it happens to be Milly!

The latter has a head-start now and hopefully will get the credit she deserves.

Keep them coming Nancy, I mean not the storm! siva

Siva, I loved your comment as always. You are the best. I think the storm is gone and sunny skies are ahead. Although it will be hot after the storm. They won't be able to get Milly out of the beach house but, as long as she's got the computer she will be fine.

in terms of improving as a writer be careful for redundancy you repeated twice that the water was choppy. Repetitions tend to bore readers
