Molly and Milly have just come up from the basement. They didn't find Dad in the basement and now they've decided to go upstairs. Time is running out and they need to find Dad before it's too late.

Searching for Dad

Molly and Milly are back upstairs in the lobby. They are both tired and thirsty. The dust in the building was overwhelming. Molly turned to look at Milly and she was a mess. Her eyes were puffy and her hair was matted. She was going to need some allergy medicine and a bubble bath. It would have to wait until they found Dad. He'd been gone a long time and Molly had the feeling that Dad was in big trouble.

Finding a way upstairs

Molly's eyes had adjusted to the dark and she could see a lot better in the big room. The center of the room was filled with garbage. It looked like part of the ceiling had fallen down. There was plaster everywhere. Molly told Milly to follow her. She was going to walk along the edge of the room so Milly wouldn't get hurt. From what she could tell it looked like there was a stairway over in the far corner. As they got nearer to what Molly thought was a stairway her thoughts were confirmed. It was a stairway going upstairs. She didn't want to go up the steps but she really had no choice. She motioned to Milly to follow her. The higher up they went the steeper the steps got. By the time they got to the top Molly was out of breath. She had to rest before they went any farther.

Going room to room

They went from room to room down the long hallway. Each room they passed was worse than the room before it. This building might have been nice once upon a time but the best thing that could happen now was that it was torn down. They kept walking along till they got to the end of the hallway. Molly heard voices somewhere off in the distance. She was going to have to investigate. Now things were getting serious and bullets might start flying. She motioned for Milly to stay back and keep very quiet. Molly quietly made a right turn and continued along the hallway alone.

Discovery

Molly stopped just before the second doorway on the right. The voices were in this room. She could feel her heart beating in her throat. Molly very quietly looked around the door frame. Bingo she'd found Dad. He was sitting in a chair with his hands and feet bound together. Molly had such a sick feeling. She didn't know if she was going to pass out or be shot. She turned and inched her way back down the hall.

Going for help

Molly told Milly they had to make a run for it and get help. Milly's eyes were big as saucers but she followed right behind Molly. They ran down the steps as fast as they could go. Molly and Milly were both scared half to death. Milly was almost down the steps when she tripped and fell down the last two steps. She didn't get hurt but she started to cry. She didn't know how much more of this she could take. Molly knew they had to save Dad.
