Celebrate Mother's Day with all the flowers and gifts and dinners but always remember that the most important thing you can give your Mum is love and the most important thing you can do is stay in touch and show her that you care...

As it comes around....

So its mom’s day again, it seems to come round so quickly and then.. well what then? Do you treat your mom special on that special day or do you have the grand heart to treat her well every day of the year even if she can be a cantankerous old biddy sometimes!!!

I know my mum was great and I argued cats and dogs with her most of the time. She smoked and she gambled and always was losing her diamond rings and she had me and my sisters running around like crazed chickens trying to find them.
But further back from that time, she took such great care of us and dressed all three of us so beautifully, everyone commented on the three Brown sisters!

Wot a silly old lady!!!!

But let’s get back to Mother’s Day celebrated around the world now that the good old USofA has given other get rich quickly companies in a multitude of countries the keys to soaking up the pounds, euros, dollars, etc. etc from a gullible public, especially playing on the heart strings of children everywhere no matter of what age or inclination.

Who could resist, ‘buy that Special Mum a very special Gift on her very special Day’ and like lambs to the slaughter we follow, purchasing the cards and the chocolates and the flowers and the very important dinners for that most important person.
She sits there with a bemused look on her face wondering what all the fuss is about because, after all, most days she is shoved into the background and the pearls of wisdom that drop from her mouth are totally ignored by the smart young/old sons and daughters who have made their mark in the world and wonder how on earth did she beget us. Can we really be a by-product of that fuddy duddy old lady, they think.

Whether mom is from the old country or second, third, fourth generation, today she is not thought of as very wise and definitely not very able to handle the techie stuff coming down everywhere. Her wisdom comes from common sense, from her heart and what on earth is that compared with an Ipod or Blackberry!!!!

Back into their cages...

So the wheels turn and forgetting that one day, they may be someone’s mum too, the children of those often wise and loving ladies return them into their cages at the end of that special day.
I think I read on facebook a remark by a David Cohen that old people should be neutered to keep them quiet…oh dear what is this world coming to….

Those who Really Care

Now I will digress because there are many folks out there who
absolutely adore their mums every day in every way. Who honour them and know that their presence in their lives has brought them many accomplishments.
Because of their mom’s caring, they have received a great education and a lot of inner wisdom that helps mightily in their life choices. These are the folks who have learned respect and how to act in the world as caring human beings and who treasure their mums.

It is not the presents and the dinners that are important, it is the everyday contact, a telephone call, a snatched lunchtime visit and Sunday spent in quiet contemplation with the lady who brought you into the world.

This really is what most mum's want on Mother’s Day. So give it to'em.....

Mother's love is pure and let us try to return that in abundant measure. When people feel that the world is becoming evil, one has only to look around to see mothers still loving their children as they did from time immemorial. Thanks for a thought provoking, ever relevant article with lovely pictures too, cnw - siva

Our relationship with our mum or mom (you're now truly Americanized Brit, love) is genuinely biological (look at our umbilical cords when she released us into the world). In contrast, our relationship with our father is social or sociological. Glad there's also Father's Day.

Happy Mother's Day to all mums here!

Great article. But is it really necessary to wait for a particular day to remember one's mother?.
