Here is my public diary for consumption and critique. I hope you enjoy reading.

Who Knew It Could Be So Hard To Open A Small Business?

Just kidding, we did. The problem is that neither of us have any experience with a small business--so even though we are very diligent about learning what we are supposed to do, it still takes an incredible amount of time and energy to get things done. Plus we don't know exactly how to fit out work requirements into a routine so we don't skip any steps accidentally.

Good news is: We secured a $2,500 loan to help with costs prior to the first paychecks coming in from the contracting company. The major contracting company, Network Engineering Technologies, pays out after the first 60 days of work, so that first 60 days was going to be insanely difficult for us to survive. However, thankfully, due to small and frugal living, that $2,500 will keep a roof over our heads until the first paycheck comes in. We are also blessed with loving parents who are willing to hire Jerry (on his days off) to complete odd jobs (at a discounted rate) that they would otherwise have to pay through the teeth for. I am beginning to see the light at the end of the tunnel and that should help me to relax. If you can't tell, I'm the big worrier in our family...

Just Checking In

In case anyone is looking for a more frequent update on the Wikinut writing, I have had over 250 page views for the past 2 days. I think that giving a detailed description and including a few links or two into the "further reading" section has helped. Also, if anyone has a request for something about my life they would like me to discuss, feel free to put it in the comments and I'll see what I can do.

Body After Baby

I do--generally speaking--feel pretty good about the progress I have made recovering after Erik's birth, but I still have a long way to go. I'm down 20 lbs. from where I was before I became pregnant, although that is not an accurate representation of the work that I've put in. And I don't mean that the way that you think. I have done nothing other than try to drink a lot of water, keep the foods I eat nutritious about 80% of the time, and breast feed...tons. You would not believe the calorie-burning ability that comes with constantly producing approximately a liter of milk. I only eat 250-300 calories more than I did before pregnancy, but I need almost 600-800 more. So that's where the weight loss comes in.

I'm not looking to become a cardio-junkie, especially since I have terrible knees and hips from two decades of ballet. But I could spend much more time working on my overall strength and muscular conditioning. I was thinking that some 30-day challenges might be a good place to start, plus, I should definitely start doing yoga again. It hurts my hips just to sit sometimes. I know it seems ridiculous to worry about my physique will all of these other changes going on, but if I don't take care of myself, how am I ever going to have the attitude necessary to handle larger issues.

I'm a 32-year-old mother, teacher, nonprofit worker, partner, and all-around exhausted woman. But there's no sense in complaining when life is so much stinkin' fun.
