A few words of advice from a father to his son in the form of a poem

My Son...

Now look here my son there is no money for thee,
I gave thee three groats when we were at sea.
Have you spent what I gave you in treating that wench
To fine talk and fare? instead of digging the trench.

You're a fine lad that's true, the fruits of my loin,
You should be thrifty in life and save all your coin.
You will need it for when the tax man's in town,
Fof he'll just leave you with your dressing gown!

Be thrifty and worldly wise in your life.
As one day my son you will have a fine wife.
Be true to your wench and give her the earth,
And not run like I did for all I was worth...lol

It is so good to read and support fellow poets when we sometimes can be so overlooked. Poetry is so personal, and yet is a delight to share...I enjoy following your work my friend...and look forward to more articles from you...

Thank you Bev..you are so right. Poetry is a very personal thing and some poems can read so differently depending on the individual reading it. I do agree that we all need to share more and gain a better insight to each others work ...
