Songs I have written from 2012 to current day. Some are from poems, others from songwriting workshops, others just thought of at the time and place.

How it began

Although I like to write poetry, I have also ventured into writing my own songs now. My first song, on another page called Quietly Dad, was written as a poem after his death in 2007, then as a song in 2010. I've never written songs before, let alone recrd and sing one!
I actually produced a CD of 7 songs in total called Love for the World.
Each song is personal to me. As I said the first one was for my dad. The next I recorded was for a very close friend, again, on another of my pages called My Angel Friend. The third song was called Notice Me. This was a lot more upbeat than the other 2. I had the idea during a songwriting workshop. I've performed it live on a few occasions with different accompanists and once with 2 'backing singers' to get the harmonies.
The next song was a very interesting song and took the longest to record. It was called I wish you were here. I was on the balcony in Alcudia when this song came to me. I couldn't wait to get home to try the meloy out- the lyrics were written but at the time, had no way of recording the tune that was in my head. It was great to improvise the accompanying instruments in this song. One was the cahon which the producer didn't have in his studio so we turned a guitar over to make it sound like one. I also played the castanets and cabassa. Jason played his guitar in as much a spanish style as he could. I checked on the pronounciation with a spanish dad in my school for the Te quiero part. Also interesting was the time change in the song. This was great fun to record and a great outcome.
Our next intersting venture was to sing along with 4 children from my school. Ranging from 7-10 years, they helped record the CD title, Love for the World. One of the children designed the front cover for the CD.
After that came another song from a songwriting workshop called Be One.
My final song on the CD was for my mum, called Only one Mother in the world. My dad never got to hear the song I wrote about him so decided to do one for mum before she died. I also made sure it was done by the time my friend at work was raising money for her mum who had been diagnosed with Cancer. I said for every CD I/she sold at £7.50, she could have a third, £2.50 for her charity.
I continue to sell the CD's at £7.50 and wherever it is I take them to, the hosts receive a third for their chosen charity.

and after...

In summer 2011, I released Harmony. Most people have said this was been my best one so far. I performed this on live radio and at my concert as well as a showcase.
Then I stopped writing for a while but did have some already written down but not properly written with melody/harmonies
Then in November 2012, I wanted to record more. I showed my producer a song called Let's Sing. I said I'd like the choir that I am in, to be able to sing this maybe in summer 2012. When he heard it, he said it was a shame I didn't have any Christmas lines to it as the chorus was so Christmassy. I told him that actually I did have some as I too had thought about turning it into a christmas song. So from then on, it was called Ring a ding ding. I actually sold a number of copies before Christmas and hope to promote it more next year by getting the choir to sing it.
I am currently recording a song called House of Bricks. This has been taken from another poem of mine which also has its own page here. The poem came to me during a journey I was taking by train.
After this, I have 2 more songs that I'd like recorded before the summer, then might do more Christmas songs- who knows???
