Your achievements in this life, however extraordinary they may be, will not last the inescapable ravages of eternity. Everything is destined to be destroyed in a manner as if those never existed.

My evanescent footprints on the shore of time

I had a short stroll on the sandy shore of time
That looked so long wide and welcoming
My stroll left there a few footprints of mine.

I gazed at and was stupefied by the awesome
Vastness of the roaring crushing ocean
Of eternal time before me.

I saw the waves come and break on the shore;
And my humble footprints were wiped out
In a moment by the ruthless and scorning waves.

I left the shore, like billions of others before me;
Leaving not even the slightest vestige of my
Chance existence that has seemingly served no purpose.
