In thia article, I review the winners and losers of the COllege Football game in the 9th week.

Winners and Losers of College Football Week 9

Week 9 NCAA football saw some teams win and others lose, just like it happens in any competition.

Winners

Here are a couple of the week’s top winners.

The Michigan State

During the last 3 NCAA football meetings in the series, the Spartans made several touchdowns, thanks to their defense. In fact, the best stretch in the program from 1956 to 1962 is the 5 rivalry out of the last 6 taken by the Spartans. Unlike the last season when Michigan attained -48 yards on 29 carries, the Wolverines improved significantly by gaining 65 yards on 28 carries.

The vintage win on Saturday was a 35-11. The Michigan led before halftime with 11 points before scoring on an interception return in the 3rd quarter. It was Connor Cook’s long pass from quarterback to Tony Lippett that saw the team pull away officially.

According to the perspective of the Michigan State, the gap between the couple of programs is the biggest in the history of the college football. In the eyes of Michigan, the team must prioritize reclaim of its upper hand in case Brady Hoke does not make a comeback in 2015.

With a 7-1 win, the Spartans continue pushing for a place in the playoff of NCAA football. On 8th November, the Ohio State takes on East Lansing.

North Carolina

On 4th October, North Carolina had its low point when it lost to Virginia Tech 34-17, dropped UNC to a general 2-3 and 0-2 in the college football against the Conference Play of the Atlantic Coast. For the team led by Larry Fedora, the Tar Heels, they experienced an improvement despite a slow start. Although they lost 50-43 to Notre Dame 7 days later, they gained so much confidence. UNC beat both Virginia and Georgia Tech in the last couple of games; it beat Virginia by one point when it made a score during the 4th quarter, making a 4-4 win that saw the team enter the last month.
The title of the Coastal Division remains intact.

Losers

Some of the NCAA football losers included the following teams.

Minnesota

The real contenders of the Big Ten Conference cannot just lose to Illinois. What this means is that Minnesota has never been a real contender of the Big Ten. A perfect start of the Conference Play college football was foiled when Golden Gophers lost to rudderless Illinois to fall behind at halftime by 14-3. In less than 7 minutes, it allowed a go-ahead score for the competition just before the 4th quarter. With the arrival of Wisconsin and Nebraska later in November, the Gophers can expect to perform better in the game against the Iowa, Ohio State.

Texas

During the last 5 NCAA football games played by Longhorn, Texas was slightly competitive. They lost 23-0 to Kansas State and that is the most definitive defeat ever witnessed in the program within the last 10 years. UT managed 12 first downs and 196 offense yards as they were able to take charge of the game for only 20 minutes, letting the Wildcats control the match for 3 good hours and dictating the flow of the attacks.
