Nature is Harmony in Motion

We are from nature and sticking to its ways of self-renewal will stand us in good stead than trying to assert to deprive and humiliate others like we tend to do as a matter of course. We have to raise our bar in terms of coexistence and inclusiveness to take the next step forward in our relentless march and to play our role as co-creators.

Self-destructive Path

We could well be the species that finds it most difficult to coexist with our own. Others look more homogeneous to us in looks like rats and zebras but they know their individual existence and to identify one from another. Though they have their fights to assert their dominance they don’t seem to hold a grudge as they mostly leave others alone. When everything is under control in terms of a full stomach and roof over our heads we suffer from an “idle mind is a devil’s workshop” syndrome. It is ongoing every moment when you take into account the created tensions between countries spoiling to assert themselves against one another. Even outlying islands far away from their coast provide enough fodder to come to blows. It is crystal clear there are ways to find amicable solutions, but hegemony is our bane – not only to hurt others’ sentiments but even to make sure they are indeed hurt and humiliated. What is now happening in islands in South China Sea is the new flash point while Russia is out to prove that it is no spent force by trying to bring Ukraine to its knees! Again I think aloud, does this matter to the 99% who have to pick up the tab in the end everywhere? They are more concerned with keeping body and soul together till their return flights get confirmed!

Learn from Nature

Nature is the best teacher. The harmony behind its working is a sight to behold. What is beyond our comprehension should be again the 99%! We see and comprehend only 1% of how it works. We cannot even replicate its intricate workings between family members or even among couples. We are at each other’s throats in a jiffy for no reason driving a wedge and unable to bridge the chasm due to false pride and ego. These get translated to the world stage pitting one country against another with others adding fuel to the fire!

Our Body is a Guide too

Why look at only nature – why not also at ourselves, how our body functions? Are they not in super perfect harmony? Two eyes, two hands and feet in perfect equilibrium to keep us well balanced to face any eventuality. Then we have a mouth and nose and other parts that work perfectly with our whole body. They don’t pick up a fight needlessly but know each has an important part that make a perfect whole. If one gets knocked out due to accident the others double up to take their place. If we lose sight the hearing becomes sharper and memory too! Who is behind this wondrous creation? Don’t they give us the meaningful backing to the adage – united we stand, divided we fall?

Everyone Counts

The Age of Enlightenment is within our cusp but we have to eschew few actions that have brought us repeated grief. Pride and ego stand foremost in the way. We have individual talents – in fact, nobody can claim to be smarter than another. If I have more wealth it shows I had inheritance or I devoted my time more into pursuits that create wealth; hopefully, it is not due to taking advantage of the innocent who believed in me to play fair, as it happens often. That only goes to prove I was not worthy of their trust reposed on me! It is terrible karma as far as I am concerned.

Indulgent Mother Nature

Nature is self–renewing itself to suit the needs of the moment including pandering to our excesses and a devil-may-care attitude; actions that could have destroyed our planet but for the resilience of Mother Nature. It has been like a divine mother nurturing and even forgiving our excesses, reinventing itself, and unlocking treasures to satiate our needs and even the greed like an indulgent mother does! Can we learn more not only through scientific pursuits but also through a shift in consciousness that will prove to be the bedrock for peace and coexistence?

Ponder, Reflect and Change our Ways

Our ways are clearly untenable and we ignore the greatest example of harmony provided by creation. The coexistence of unimaginable objects in the universe is beyond our comprehension but they point to one truth that is undeniable - that we are dependent on one another. The forces that are at play to keep the whole thing going is a fascinating study and the greatest tribute we can pay during our sojourn here is to know more about the whole edifice and try to emulate the basic truth that coexistence is the best way – inclusiveness and truth give the maximum mileage to a meaningful and purpose filled life. Onward, forward, we should march finding unity amid rich diversity. We are from nature and let us follow its example. And our pursuits should add value in every way possible fulfilling our role as genuine co-creators.

That one picture was really messing with my eyes. Humans need to learn how to live and be more in harmony with nature, we are too destructive, too selfish and it hurts us.

Thanks Mark for the moderation and awarding star merit. We are placed at the apex of creation for a purpose but our actions are more destructive than help enhance life in general which we are capable of. Our contribution is negligible as we depend totally on nature for survival. Let us be just more grateful for the moments - siva

Thanks Carolina. Let us create the awareness of the consequences of our actions and the endless possibilities as you do so beautifully. There are secrets yet to unfold, unlock, by connecting the dots and then we can soar high up the clouds and beyond with the right attitude. The shift in consciousness should lead us away from the path of self-destruction like fighting over a piece of land that should belong to all - siva

and the only reason my mind dictates is this We have an indelible memory which we can recall at will Instances way back down memory lane as far back as memory remains we live on for decades we nurse grudges and curses never learn to forgive and forget that’s why humans suffer from stress and heart attacks Glad the creator spared all animals from this misery of having a memory So they live each day as it dawns A rabbit paws at every morn as he sees a sun at dawn what is it he ponders Likewise rats tell tales from where they came and return to the holes once again, So do Lions sex and every two minutes they do a hundred times ask at any zoo. The laziest one on birth yet the son of the jungle who can with a Lion compare I dare...
This piece of prosaic is only prose I have no intentions to a poem propose All persons prove to be untrue sad My memory is so wild that I can't forget yet I’ve learned to forgive and forget Those who flatter most I hate but they never get my mouths taste. Shiva …My Lord this is the first time I dared to disagree not because of any malice or memory only because you have been along with me since wikis history You have read every word of mine and enlightened me So I thought of conveying salutations to man's memory We all are not that bad only a miniscule few a few fish can't spoil the human ocean nor whales the entire Arctic .Memory is a gift and as well as a curse Those who have stopped commenting will have to recall how in my memory's eyes they fall!

Thank you Loverme for your kind words.I write and comment on the basis of my life's experiences and I have seen the best and worst of what we are capable of. Though we are at the apex of creation, we have failed to live up to our promise with a Life of Entitlement of few spoiling the harmony yearned for by the majority.

I did not want to pull ourselves down by stating unequivocally that we are the most infamous in the list of not being able to coexist as we know of crabs pulling others down too, for example.

Agreed, we get overwhelmed by negative traits like nursing grudges that only go to punish ourselves endlessly. Such an attitude leads to eye for eye revenge that makes the whole world blind as Gandhi warned.

Your generous words encourage me to share whatever cheer and nuggets of what I make of this world - that could also be just a dream. Though you may disagree Loverme, I feel there is some purpose behind our lives and experiences here, beliefs, etc. It may be not what we think and we believe while here. We have limited senses to understand what goes on beyond the tip of our noses while in this avatar. Doing good will serve us well and what it is none has to tell us - listen to our conscience and do as you would be done by! siva

Thanks for sharing this another thought-provoking article ~ Siva. There is a way that SEEMS RIGHT but the end thereof is the way of slow death. Until an individual repents and accepts the perfect love of God's Dear Son ~ and His forgiveness ~ they will continue in this destructive manner. **** I realize this may sound like mere 'religious trivia' ~ but ~ in actuality ~ the Gospel of Jesus Christ ~ is the power of God ~ unto salvation. {Romans 1:16} **** It probably seems unfair, but God loves the 1% as much as He does the 99%. **** My hope ~ with joyful expectancy ~ is that the love of God, our Creator, will touch your heart in an exceptional manner ~ and ~ cause you to be born again into Christ Jesus. ****

Thanks Helen for sharing your belief. Unfortunately, the lifestyle of the rich cast a pall of gloom all over with their limitless greed dictating their actions. They are not on the same page as the majority poor who leave the rich to their devices and even close their eyes to their outright exploitation. I do not know whether God treats everyone equally but we should make it clear these cannot go on. I repeat there is no honor in being wealthy from a poor country where the majority does not know where their next meal is going to come from - siva

But the poor need to rise above petty considerations like a few pennies to spend on a bottle of Beer, and they need to begin asking questions from the Powerful people. They can unite constructively to fight for their rights, and refuse to be drawn as tools of violence by the wealthy.
Once this is done, and Poor and Middle class find a common ground, The rich and powerful shall come to senses.

Yet all this seems idealistic, and i see people going all "Tongs-and-Hammer" to be rich and powerful(in a negative way).

Thanks Ptrikha for your input. The media leads us down the wrong path. Our awareness gets clouded when our emotions overcome reason. The poor are easily divided when they are emotionally exploited. What use fighting over a distant land - if our leaders are carried so away, let them fight for it by themselves and leave the 99% alone! Let the rich get out of their comfort zones too!

Though there is no virtue in being poor, our real value should not be judged by our material wealth, but how we are able to contribute to society and touch many lives positively. I am not alone in not going after wealth as I knew that path is just not worth the effort - life is much more than that!

Individuals and countries have to evaluate the paths taken - what motivates their actions. When our actions are towards helping the deprived to stand up and be counted, then we will get the momentum and poise to go higher in a way that has meaning - and not just after wealth for its own sake as that proves a burden soon to them and to those who inherit them, for which they did not work for - siva

Thanks Radomes - it is through sharing we learn from each other - we are cut from the same cloth though some profess to be different. The poor never fail to ask - whether I had my meals but the rich have no time for such camaraderie. I used to meet for years with a very rich man. His family owns many hotels in few countries. One day I had few moments alone with him in the lift/elevator and told him - the elderly cleaners still remember your father who passed away in 1986 and speak of his generosity even today in 2014. Thereafter he never fails to acknowledge me! siva

Ptrikha, the 99% are setting a great example to the selfish 1%, but they do not get the message. If someone is asleep we can wake them up, but if they pretend to sleep, it is harder!

Some shock treatment maybe required in the end to get the message across. I recall my friend in Kuwait in 1990. His office was next to another owned by a person who used to ignore the 99%. When Iraq invaded Kuwait in 1990 all had to flee. My friend managed to collect couple of bottles of drinking water in a melee and heard someone shout - my friend, give me one bottle. My friend was taken aback - it was the same person who had ignored him till then! The man added - it is not for me but for my child, then my friend threw a bottle without even looking at that person. This is bound to happen to us all - plain karma in action! siva

The Human beings are so busy destroying among themselves and showing one-upmanship that we as a human race are not able to think of ways to better our planet. And in fact those who want to be at peace are pushed aside or threatened to change their ways lest they or their near ones are harmed.

Yes, there are people and groups who have shown the courage and way forward and we should support these Men and Women without fear. Yet will we be able to do so? Will we have the courage?

The main issue in India is the younger generation hoping they can remain on the sidelines forever and expecting the present gerontocracy of politicians to change - and that will not happen.

Democracy and freedom without rule of law is anarchy. Now the 99% has understood the core of this truth though they get manipulated still. Everyone unites for a noble cause but soon selfishness kicks in again and again. I do hope India's new leader is able to show how united action can transform the country - not the divisive politics that has existed till now. He should be allowed to carry out his agenda based on which he was voted to power and that is what democracy stands for.

We should use technology in the right way to see that transparency helps achieve the rightful aspirations of the vast majority. Then all will enjoy real unity and not nine working to benefit one. Sustainable development is the mantra of the future so that we leave behind a better world every way. Thanks Ptrikha - siva

Thank you Phyl for the compliment. I love to ponder over differing views so that I understand life more. The beauty is - though I have been in Asia all my life my views resonate with all and theirs too within me. Another aspect is, I have lived closely with people from different cultures and beliefs and I have found the good and bad are everywhere and even within those who profess none. I believe if one has a certain view about life that should have also originated from creation So I just state my views and move on. When other species can coexist, why not us? siva

Dear Siva, the trouble is that our notions of success are so often defined by the dynamics of money and power alone, hence the stress and burnout that causes so much disharmony at home, in society and in the world. What we don’t comprehend enough is that self-renewal plays a critical role in helping us reach our highest potential, so that we can bring constructive change for the betterment of society? So the solution is to integrate self-renewal strategies into our daily life. As we renew ourselves, we create growth and change in our lives and in the lives of others. In this way we harmonise with nature.

Thank you dear Subra for your take on finding harmony with nature through self-renewal. Whatever progress we make in scientific and technological areas will prove hollow, and even self-destructive, unless we develop empathy and coexistence. When we continue to define success through money and power we are deluding ourselves. Now it is more of snatching for ourselves what belongs to others too like the issue in South China Sea where oil wealth is blinding reason. Nature shows the way, but do we bother to pause and learn? siva
