Night Scents

After a long days walk in the country a man builds a fire in a meadow and reflects on the beauty of night time.

A Silver World

I lay in a beautiful meadow on a moonlit night in August alone in a dark silvery world,
Scented stocks gave their all, natures perfumes glided my way and a heaven unfurled,
Every single spot has its own sentiment, each one spills a rich haunting peculiar smell,
Leafy scents from forest turf, earthy, pungent; this is a night I will remember so very well.

Wood Fire

Dancing on a light breeze a fragrant breath of sweetbrier whispered as it drifted,
Then the delicious effusion from a clover maybe a bean-field, all my senses were lifted,
As I lay propped on one arm a warm rich smell of peat smoldered on a glowing wood fire,
A smell that tells of an end of a day that it’s time to rest, to relax, that it’s time to retire.

A Little Bit Higher

Nearby I could hear moths fluttering in hedges, bushes surrounding my dark leafy glade,
A night thrush on a branch silhouetted in a full moon, this is how forever memories are made
Trees stand in shadowy masses the front ones reflected in the light from my flickering peat fire,
Shadowy masses seem to listen to the still musing silver black skies, only a little bit higher.

Soft Gloom

A soft gloom beneath umbrageous hedges soft, beautiful in this August night glow,
What can equal this, a feeling of calm on a summer night? There is none that I know,
The moon beams down like a celestial creature the evening stars glow clear, so bright,
As I lay propped on one arm and shut my weary eyes on this forever moment,
on this my silvery night.

You are back with a bang as usual,Terry. On reading yours I realize what we have been missing. Great music and images that glitter like the stars above. You have truly embraced nature and brought home what others miss. Every place has a history stretching billions of years past and also a future that is better left to our imagination - siva

It was the month of August,
The embers burned bright.
Warding of the coldness,
Coming at dead of night.
Showing the world music,
Bringing the riot of Love.
Angels chorused sweetly,
In the heavens Above.

Glistening Dew of the night,
Dripping on flowers to clean.
Showing the scent of pure air,
Bringing life that's so pristine.
With elements of all Nature,
Kissing the intrepid heart.
The world comes together as One,
To bring Earth a Brand New Start.

For she has suffered and shaken everyone,
Moving the world whole and true.
Bringing tears in every dark heart,
Who try to whisper Baby I Love you.
For she just walks far away,
With Nature now twinkling love.
With Stars now showing spotlight,
With pale moon staring Above.

For the scent of night has flowers,
Dance of Life is pure with praise.
Planet Earth awaits the Sunrise,
To spread out the Golden Rays.
Where all of life now watches,
With shock written on face.
While the darkened one falls down,
Crying loudly in disgrace.

For the Glistening dew has spoken,
Leaving wetness in the mark.
Showing the scent of tomorrow,
Comes in the Singing Sky Lark.
Where all of Creation adheres,
They don't know what to say.
For Planet Earth is silently working,
Singing Heavens can now Wait.

As she pulls all around the Sun,
Pushing back the stunned Moon.
Who begins to fall back slightly,
Making just others now swoon.
For the Dance of the Glistening Dew comes,
Showing the Crying love.
Who holds her tenderly in reverence,
As he looks at her from Above.

New life new beginning,
This is the Scent of truth.
Where all is calm and peaceful,
Day and Night bearing fruit.
For all of Creation now see,
The Glistening in truest love.
As they try to create a pathway,
From the Heavens up Above.

You held my breath for a while
I could smell the August night
a lovely lonely yet calm plight
of someone who enjoys
the gift of poetry
all about nature
the words so softly selectively chosen
I don't want to restate
for fear of treason

but the August night you portray
can never a poet’s heart betray
you are a composer utterly unique
where in this whole wild world
can find Wiki
nuts!
they were till you warmed them up
and
now each poem with a star
they all mood raters cup

how i wish…. me toooooo.....

YOU MAY DELETE IF YOU WISH TOO
