Of Birth and Death

Birth returns as death for birth and death are one.

Going Home

She looks frail lying there,
Her body weighing perhaps ninety pounds
Family gathered round her bed
A nurse stops for a moment, then moves on.
She’s tired, unable to keep her eyelids open.
Family kiss her cheek and prepare to leave
“Good-night” mom, she hears again
“Good-night” she murmurs sleepily, eyes closed.
A ‘hush’ settles over the room.
She sleeps as one worn with the toil
Of almost eighty-seven years,
A well-earned rest
A figure enters the room,
Beautiful, and somehow familiar
Is that wings she wonders,
No longer tired
Death, for such the figure was, smiled a welcoming smile.
“Remember when I brought you here,
People called me birth then,
Birth and I are one, and tonight I take you home”.

This one's for the end of the road. Nicely communicated. Message received well.

Thought provoking and soothing too, dear Kingwell. Death should not be feared especially when we have had a full life. We close this door to enter another. Why worry as are going to put on a new pair of clothes after discarding the crumpled and worn out ones! siva
