Okay, Okay...Something for Halloween

I think that hidden somewhere inside the shadows of each of us there is a ghost story waiting to be told, to be spilled across the unborn page, like blood on the floor.

Macabre

Macabre

Come a little nearer my dear,
I’d like to see you
If I may, if I could.
I’d like to have a word with you
If you please.
Over here in the shade
Under the apple trees,

Can You See Me Now

In the deep and murky shadows
Where sunshine falls sleepy

In mid-afternoon,
Over here where the cool evening breeze
Touches softly between the leaves
Flashing in the wind.
Can you see me now?
Can you hear me?

From Father to Son

The stories here are very old
You know, and told only
By fathers to sons,
Old to young…It’s in the notes
Mother’s hum.
Can you hear it now…Listen…Carefully.
It’s really very sweet
When one comes
To see the way of it…When one
Gets a feel for the old house
And the old ways.

And Down, Down, Down

Did you know
That sometimes
When you leave a place
A little piece goes with you,
And a little piece stays behind
With the dust in the corners,
Up in the wood rafters
And down, down, down
In the deep and dark basement?
It’s as if you were always here,
As if you never left
Always waiting in the shadows.
And the dark,

Without Explanation or Promise.

Your thoughts, your dreams, your love
Remain alive in the eves
And the walls. In the squeaks
Under the bed springs at night,
And alive in the days that slipped away
Before time feel away from you,
Before time was robbed from you

In your youth.

Refusing to See the Ghosts

Oh my little one,
My darling one dear
The things we have forgotten
Through out the years,
Through out the mist of our days…In the fog and the haze
Where we hide from light, from night
Where we hide old dreams away
Refusing to see the ghosts
As they are...As we are.

Within the Whittled Words

Refusing to see ourselves,
Our shadows in the mirror,
Standing in clear view
Of those who cannot see you
Within the whittled words
They etched on stone
To remember you by.

No, she didn't know she was a ghost, the headstone was her reminder...Thanks for reading spirited.
