Old dreams

Much to our dismay, sometimes dreams never come true, haunting us forever.

Bottled up inside

All those sunsets and sunrises,
that you were supposed to watch with someone special,
all those pictures that you imagined,
and kept safely in your heart,
secretly hoping that one day,
would appear in front of your eyes in flesh and blood,

all those songs that you kept singing by yourself,
reharsing for the premiere,
where you would manage to make a great entrance,
stealing the spotlight,

the tender touch,
that used to warm your heart,
sending chills to the rest of your body,

all those dreams that helped you escape in your own little paradise,
away from a reality that your soul rejected,
as it was allergic to pain,
have now faded away,

they are grey and old,
full of wrinkles,
staring at you with contempt,
because you refused to let them escape,
and do as they pleased,

you were afraid to let them go,
you kept them inside,
suppressed and abused them,
giving in to reality's emotional blackmail,

and all you have now are those old dreams,
that you didn't trust,
ghosts in the shadows,
forever haunting you,
wherever you go,
whatever you do,

welcome to your own,
carefully structured,
living hell.

aesoplado, the point of my poem was, that unless dreams manage to come to life...they will forever haunt us.

We should dream dreams and make them come true - anyway dreams do not cost us anything but take us everywhere - siva
