One way of solving the stray dog problem.

Dog meat is popular in many countries, as the eating of this meat is said to have many benefits.

Do people really eat dogs?

Yes, they do! And why not? After all, if people can eat cute little bunnies, cuddly little lambs and pink little pigs without compunction or remorse, there seems to be no reason why they cannot make a meal out of the household pet too.

And trade in dogs is booming. Only a short time ago a large truck stacked up with small cages overturned on a road in northern Thailand. What was crammed into these cages? Dogs, yes dogs! And where was the truck headed? Well, in view of the geographical location of the accident it is almost certain that its destination was the border with Laos, and then on to Vietnam or China beyond.

But why would these countries be interested in importing mongrel dogs in assorted colours, shapes and sizes? Because in all these countries, and in the Philippines and Korea too, dog meat is popular.

Then do dog owners also eat dogs? Yes, they do. It is reported that more than thirty per cent of South Korean dog owners are also partial to eating dog meat.

So what are the benefits of a dog meat diet? Well, many men believe that the eating of dog meat improves strength, stamina, and virility, while women say that it improves their skin. Also, according to some experts, dog meat is rich in Vitamins A and B,
helps alleviate digestion and fatigue problems, and cools the body down during hot weather.

If you have the chance to visit any of the afore-mentioned countries, and you can bear the thought of eating man’s best friend, then why not try one of the various dog meat dishes available in various restaurants.

And looking at the matter objectively, one can see that this dog trade is useful in other ways too. In Thailand, and many other countries, there are millions of stray dogs, which roam the streets of cities and towns and loiter in dusty village lanes. If these dogs could be rounded up and shipped out to dog meat eating countries, this would both provide food for the hungry and alleviate the stray dog problem.

I had seen this during my visit to Korea. There people were eating prawns with the shells. I found it difficult to dine there.
You made a valid point. If we catch all stray dogs, there seems to be plenty of them in my country, we can rid the towns of the stray dog menace and earn valuable foreign exchange too. Bravo.
