Our Indelible Life Story

We write our life stories that will remain indelible - no one will be excluded. We all have a role to play and let us listen to the spark of conscience within to spur our thoughts and actions.

Mystery of Life

We touch few lives during our sojourn here. We leave our legacy and assets that we acquire and hold dear to heart; for some sadly liabilities, not only in monetary terms. However, the love and affection we get do not depend on what we have and who we bequeath to, family mostly. Some lead lives that are hardly worthy but get a good send off and in the other extreme are some who live for others but get ignored in the end when they yearn for empathy and understanding. The best way is to lead a life that benefits others without expecting rewards. When that becomes a way of life nothing really matters in the end and how others treat us. We should lead a life that soothes our conscience and leave others alone to lead theirs. We are soon forgotten in a busy world, but do our lives really have a meaning, does anyone evaluate our achievements and deeds vis-à-vis our potential that we were endowed with?

Our Follies

We have our beliefs or lack of them. Many do expect rewards once we are truly done from the source that sent us here. It goes without saying that rewards go with punishments too for those who failed their mission possible! Of course, we all hope for benevolent treatment for our actions for extenuating circumstances! If anyone should be merciful it should be our Gods! They should know this blessed place is not a cake walk as we have to tackle others of various ilks. Coexistence is not easy though we see hundreds of hippos and crocs sharing little space during harsh summer when every drop of water counts. But we are trigger happy with a short fuse and unwilling to compromise. Emotions cloud our actions – we think of the consequences after the events; the mighty are not exempted from such! Flexing our muscles can push us over the brink and we seem to revel in it though stop just before total annihilation.

Wheels within Wheels

Everyone has a story to tell and is recorded till our last breath. There are many characters in our lives and some make momentary appearances but leave lasting impressions. We look back at such encounters to be inspired or keep out of harm’s way after having learned a lesson. Then we have our own positive tale that keeps us motivated to live another day and also common ones as we live within societies – so wheels within wheels in our journey. What we write may not match with what others feel about us just like history is written from different perspectives to cater to the mental makeup of different countries. Even greatest of heroes had their dark sides which lie hidden as their achievements outshine the negative side.

What do we really leave behind, if anything at all, as we leave looking for new pastures? Of course, we shed our physical body but what waits us is our hope and faith, but what do we really achieve through our presence here? We do lend our shoulders to the wheel of creation and become co-creators even those who don’t exert much! Some do contribute more not only physically but in myriad ways while there are others who cast a pall of gloom with their attitude – things are bad going to get worse!

Blaze a Trail

No one has to tell us our mission possible - we should make a conscious effort to leave a better world. We have the spark of the Creator to guide us what to do on every occasion. We know intuitively what is right and when in doubt – do unto others as you would have them do unto you – is a great guide for our thoughts leading to our actions. We have come thus far and can we take the next step with right motivation and thoughts?

1. Work towards a compassionate world by helping those in need.
2. Fight tooth and nail for peace and for that destroy the arsenal of arms – never preach what we don’t practice. Arms are the albatross around our necks!
3. Reduce greed and put them in place those who exploit the trusting poor.
4. Country borders maybe relevant but we are becoming a world community – everyone wants to progress holistically.
5. Our actions should lead to a better world for future generations.
6. Speak the truth so that we don’t clutter our minds unnecessarily! I have found even the most egoistic person’s heart can be touched by anyone speaking from the heart.
7. Everyone is on recall anytime so better to treat what we own legally as not ours, but held on trust – nothing can be taken from this blessed place. We should add value and never wantonly destroy.

When we keep to these simple guidelines our stories will ring true and touch others’ hearts. What awaits us is not certain, but what we have in hand is worth two in the bush. When we try to cheat, deceive others the real victims are us only! When we get used to such a lifestyle we are digging our own graves; comeuppance is never far away! When our lives are above board we attract those of similar intentions within our fold. The whole world is a sum total of individual stories being written every moment and we reap what we sow - that is the way it should be to take responsibility for our actions.

Not an Exercise in Futility

We lead independent lives but should make every effort not to upset the apple cart. The real wisdom lies in leading independent, even competitive lives, but with a spirit of cooperation. Our minds get corrupted when we try to bring down others than make positive progress to benefit our precious planet and all living in it. Our life stories are hardly out of the humdrum from time immemorial. Let us make the change and for that we should write better, uplifting stories to inspire others. The time is now as the doomsday clock is ticking in terms of destruction of everything our Creator has so lovingly presented us. Each day presents an opportunity for us to better our stories. Let us clear the clutter and look forward to making our journey truly inspirational and worth every word we write. We are here for a purpose as creation will not be an exercise in futility. We have our individual roles in it and expected to be an integral part. Our promptings are getting louder from within; time to listen to them clearly and to get our acts right.

Thanks Terry for such high praise. I write from my heart. I genuinely feel our world is made a mess by our attitude - rather than making progress we try to bring others down, even being afraid of own shadows. Time to wise up to what really ails us - siva

Thanks Connie. We have learned every lesson from history, almost! The progress we make through technology has also a negative side. The only way to leave a better world, like our forefathers did, is to change our ways and fight for peace. Let not few sacrifice the rest for their greed and selfish pursuits. We all write a story and let them be inspiring - siva

Thanks Marilyn for such encouragement. I am touched by your kind words. Generation after generation makes the same mistakes and we go around in circles. Take for example the impasse in USA that will affect mostly the poor while for those in the act it is just another role to play! siva

Great article. I totally agree with your views. We should live life in the path of truth and honesty. Being helpful and kind has its own rewards. Helping without getting anything in return is truly a noble act. Great write, filled with pearls of wisdom.

So happy to see you again dear Vellur, missing your posts. As each day passes I feel we are wasting time fighting among ourselves mostly for silly reasons. A poor man is same everywhere and the rich ditto as wealth and greed control his life. Time we did what is right and for that just listen to the inner voice - when in doubt, do unto others as you would have them do unto you - siva

Dear Siva
The way forward, in my opinion, is give ourselves to others from a heart filled with love. By extending our service to society we'll soon find that the whole world is linked by the spirit of selfless service.

When we start living for others, our lives too become richer, more rewarding and more meaningful. Certainly it'll not be an exercise in futility.

Well done, Siva

Your comment is the icing on the cake dear Subra. Many overlook simple truths and go around in circles like a dog chasing its tail. Let is keep our lives simple by sticking to basics but for those willing to go beyond the moon towards the sun, best of luck! siva
