Poem about the skipper of the boat "Pride of Inchkeith"

Our Skipper

Pride of Inchkeith has a Captain, a very special man.
Nothings too much trouble. To us, he’s known as Stan.
On standby for the island if ever there’s a plight
He’ll stop what he is doing and go there day or night.

He fetches all the feed-stuff from Millers of Dalkeith.
Then with his little trailer, heads westwards, bound for Leith.
Diesel fuel he sees to, and Kathleen’s ‘inner man’.
His patience knows no boundaries; a grand lad is our stand.

He’s got a skippers hat now so really looks the part.
Windscreen wipers, radio, and a radar chart.
He even had a skippers mate until very recently.
‘I will turn my hand to anything, but not midwifery’.

Patricia’s in dry dock now and there she’ll have to stay
He''ll manage single handed until post-delivery day.

From all of us who know you Stan, and all the work you’ve done,
Many, many, many thanks and with YOUR boat have fun.
