Out Of The Brokenness Of Quarried Stone

Nelson Mandela said ...and I quote .. ".Any man who takes away another man's freedom , is a prisoner of hatred " unquote....That truth will live forever ...

God Knows What He Is Doing

For any who may not be familiar with the story of Joseph in the Bible I will try to give a brief synopsis to help us understand ...

Joseph was born to Jacob , son of Isaac , son of Abraham ....Genesis 37 - 50

His mother was Rachel ...Jacob's favourite wife ...and he was also the favourite son of his father ..which caused his ten older brothers to be jealous of him ...

God gave Joseph dreams ...one of which was that his older brothers would one day bow down to him ...This made them angry , and they decided to get rid of him , and they sold him to some traders who took him as a slave to Egypt ....where he served in a nobleman's house until the man's wife accused him falsely of rape ...for which he was thrown into prison .

Because of his faith even in the difficult circumstances Joseph was favoured ....and he eventually was released after many years ...because God gave him the interpretation of dreams ... which served him well, as he was able to tell Pharaoh, the ruler, his dream ...which led to him being released and being promoted to the top man in the land ...under Pharoah himself ..

As the years passed ...Joseph was united with his family ...who came Egypt to be safe through years of famine ....

What the enemy meant for harm , God meant for good , for the saving of many lives . Genesis 50 v 20

God is still the same today .... and

He knows what He is doing ...

He Bleeds The Same Red Blood

Any man - born with the skin that bears the searing
Of the sun - yet it does him no harm - is of an equal worth

To him who comes in paler tone at time of birth - from out
The womb - made in the image of the Living God - as flesh and
Bone - that bleeds the same red blood - when that same flesh
Is cut and torn .

He Feels The Tears And Anguish

He feels the tears and anguish just the same - as if
One were mingled with the blood of his own brother -
Wracked with pain - and yet - in language - colour - and
Tradition - he may be as opposite as one is from the other - Yet
Forgiveness - reconciliation and respect - can bring the two - though
Worlds apart - together under the same banner of God's mutual love -
As if they shared the nurture of the same mother - and
Her blood .

Destruction's Aftermath

How much good has ever been achieved by bloodshed -
Hatred - selfish desires and angry deed ? - that turns people
Into worse than any animal could ever be - because of prejudice
Or racial hate and cruel greed ?- None comes to mind - only a sense
Of hopelessness - seeped in destruction's aftermath - wrought
From the carnage of death's fruitless state - and
Vile seed .

God In His Mercy Draws A Man

But ...

God in all His mercy - draws a man - out of the brokenness of
Quarried stone - and frees him from the cell of hatred - once
Encased - and hones and purges him within the cleansing - humbling
Fires of prison walls - and draws him out of life's revengeful dross - to
Bring him forth - a vessel now of greatest worth - through whom a nation -
Though once split in two - and drowning in apartheid - can unite - through
Forgiveness - peace and unity - to become as new - no longer fueled or
Bound by prejudice - and irreversible pain -
Disunity or loss .

Nelson Mandela Was Such A Man

God hates apartheid ...

God loves All men and women ...whatever the colour of their skin ..

He made us all , and He doesn't make mistakes ..

He knew what it would take to break Nelson Mandela free of all his anger and hatred ...

And ...because He loves South Africa ...and He wanted all men to lay down their arms and live in peace with each other ....

He chose the right man .

God Loves Us All

God loves us all ....

May the legacy of Nelson Mandela and all he accomplished for his nation of South Africa live on for many years to come ...and

May both black and white hands uphold each other in unity and grace .. each recognizing that ...

It is what flows from the heart of a man that makes him great ....not the colour of his skin .

God bless you all with love and peace .

Very well put Stella, I agree with all that you have said. I just cannot understand how some people cannot understand the person beneath the skin. Even these people are loved by God, as we all are. May the Lord be with you.

Good morning to you Marilyn ...I am glad you saw it as was intended dear friend . As with both men they had to be confined and broken before they would come forth as gold , fit for the Master's use . Nowadays people so often want a quick fix whereby no long lasting lessons are learnt . I have found from experience that the way to win the goal are through steadfastness and often in the school of hard knocks .... but hindsight is great after the incident as we all can realize ...It is a wise man or woman who learns in the heat of the furnace .
God bless you as you write your very constructive and informative pieces for us .

Straight from your heart Stella. You spoke the truth. I remember the times when South Africa was excluded from world sports arena due to their apartheid policy of including only whites in their team. Some of the greatest cricketers were lost to the world like Graeme Pollock and Barry Richards. Basil D'Oliveira was classified "colored" but he played with distinction for England later thanks to John Arlott, the silken voiced commentator. I remember my conversation with an Englishman in early 1980s and told him the absurdity of the apartheid system. He said it was tough to discuss that with an Indian! How times have changed! All are equal in every way and thirst for peace - and that springs from the core of our being. Thanks for speaking out - siva

Please forgive that dreadfully conceited Englishman of his ignorance and pride my dear Siva . How foolish when one man believes he is superior because he has a paler skin .
Such arrogance .
We spend a fortune in the West in Tanning parlours and in chasing the sun to get to be a golden colour .
I still say ...What comes out of the heart of a man , is what makes a man great ...not the colour of his skin .
Bless you heart my dear friend .
