Pastoral Reflections

In nature is perfect democracy. There is no inequality because there is nothing to compare. Each is what it is, plain and simple. Equal in their equally identities. Man builds his comfort, constructs images of splendor and divinity, but forgets the temple in which he was placed, settling for creature-comforts when infinite awe and peace are at his fingertips.

Pastoral Reflections

You are a noble meadow
Serenity passes smooth
over ground and grasses
I lie in repose on golden hillocks
fertile waves compel the masses
each at peace, among equals.

I was told of somewhere nice
of concrete rivers and glassy leaves
glittering in holy matrimony
with the hazy sun.
The story went on to include
a pleasant night in
orange hues and hidden
homes where wine is served.

And yet the memory remains
for nature there yielded much
and knelt before such lofty claims
of man alone controlling rain.

I make my journey to Elysium
to bring my knees to bear the brush
and drift together with that wind
which somehow hand can touch.
