Phyl Campbell is the Wikinut Author of the Day! Here are 5 facts about Wikinut's featured writer.

5. Star Article Recipient

Phyl Campbell has written 108 articles and received 72 stars for those efforts. So other Wikinuts ask: "how do I get stars?"

1) Write an article that YOU would want to read.

2) Break your article into sections (the Add new section) tab is beneath the text box.

3) Use pictures. Many of the pictures I did not take myself I got from www.morguefile.com.

4) Sometimes, pictures aren't enough and you will want to include a video. This article will tell you how to do that. If a picture is worth 1,000 words, then a video must be worth a million!!

5) If your article looks more like the script of a radio program or advertisement, it will be very hard for you to get a star. The internet is very visual, so your star articles must also be visual and entertaining.

Here are some other articles Phyl Campbell has written to help new Wikinuts:
An Open Letter
Why Offer Critique?
Is it About the MONEY -- or not?
A New Writing Venture
Article #10
50,000 hit points
40 Days, 40 Pages, 40 Cents (American)
1500 Nutpoints
Article #50

4. Outspoken WOMAN

Phyl Campbell has written many articles about the power of women, about abuses against women, and about the unfair treatment of women and how women have risen above.

She will continue to write and publish these articles.

Her husband (yes, she is married and mother of an active 10 year old boy) is very proud of her (You could say he is a feminist, too. A very manly feminist!). It is possible to be a good wife and a strong, outspoken woman. It may not be possible to do this with any man, but the right man for a strong, outspoken woman will be half of a great marriage.

3. Picky Eater

Phyl only drinks one brand of soda, and her finickiness is legend, causing many problems and laughs for those who don't have to live with it. For one such example, see the story about the terrible first date -- which took place on Valentine's Day 12 years ago -- that was the start of a great relationship.

2. Songwriter, Poet, Blogger, Journalist, Published Novelist, Children's Book Author

Phyl Campbell is all of the above.

Blogger / Journalist
Phyl Campbell was a print journalist long before she knew how to turn on a computer. "Of course, the elementary school paper doesn't quite have the weight of the New York Times," Campbell said. "In college, I was employed writing human interest stories -- I love people. People are fascinating." One of Campbell's human interest stories was picked up and run by a national syndicate. She laughs that she only had a Hotmail account for about three months, and was still sending 35mm film through the mail to be developed by her editor. "I had no idea how to attach a picture or even if anything on the roll would be print-worthy. Looking back on it now -- wow! -- technology has come such a long way."

Phyl tries to maintain her journalism skills with such articles as the Eritrean boat wreck, coverage of Oprah Winfrey's yard sale, and Groundhog Day.

Published Novelist:
The following titles are available at "the" major online book retailer (you know the one) in paperback and Kindle formats. Visit her author page.

Mother Confessor Book One:
To the people of Community, Mother Confessor is an ageless storyteller. However, her chilling tale of kidnapping, murder, and mayhem pays homage to actual events that mar Community's past. Is anyone safe in Community? How many secrets does Mother Confessor keep?

Mother Confessor Book Two:
While passing the summer in Washington, DC, Emily receives an official-looking notice in the mail. A bizarre piece of news threatens to tear her family apart. Judi's meddling is rearing its ugly head, and the Mother Confessor's own guilt points to her role in ultimate betrayal. Can handsome Gideon, thoughtful Bertie, or resourceful Emily stop Judi – and the Mother Confessor? Or will these events become yet another tragic tale for the children of Community?

The Carley Patrol:
Marcus McCoy is ready to get his life on track after a less-than-successful career as a private detective. Little brother Michael is a reporter for the local paper while technically still in school. They both look out for their sister Carley -- who does not appreciate the help, and hinders their efforts every chance she gets. All of this due to shared history, kept secrets, and a fallen preacher's need for revenge.

Not yet available with that retailer, but with chapters currently found *ONLY ON WIKINUT* is 25 REASONS WHY CHARLIE SHOULD NEVER READ JANE'S BOOKS TO JANE. This is a romantic comedy about the differences between men and women. It is not autobiographical. However, some do not believe that. What more is there to say?

Children's Book Author

Martha's Chickens and the Pirates
From fellow Wikinut Michelle Stanley*, "The brave chickens decide to go foraging for food and find themselves on a pirate ship. They snatch sausages and wormy hamburgers and return to their boat, happy that Martha won't starve. The hungry pirates are not pleased when they realize that their food is gone, and set a trap for the pilfering chickens. The cows and pigs try to rescue the chickens, and fight the pirates in order to do so. What happens next is an unexpected twist to the story, as Martha offers a solution that the pirates find hard to refuse, while ensuring the safety of her animals."

1. Teacher

First and foremost, Phyl Campbell considers herself to be a teacher. Currently, she is filling this role by being her son's learning coach as he participates in online charter school through k12.com. This has led to articles like:
Landmines
Contents of a Growing Boy's Pockets
Why Isn't There a Oneths Place?

In the past, Phyl has taught ESL, English, Japanese, and almost every topic under the sun to kids as young as three weeks and as old as 70. This has led to articles like:
Amazing Stories of International Students
Help!
Folding Towels
Dishwashing 101
5 Tips to Better Spelling in English
Confessions of a Grammar Enthusiast
Why Does that Letter Make that Sound?
Semicolons

"I really wanted to help new Wikinuts or people who might join one day," Phyl said. "So I published articles to celebrate milestones and I've never shied away from questions. I love questions. In my view, everyone who wants to put in the effort can write star-worthy articles and be successful here."

Of course, then a stranger asked Phyl what she made on Wikinut so far.
She answered with a grimace and a smile, "A lot of friends."
