I'm not sure whether this is really a poem, or lyrics or even more of a rap. Either way, it's from the heart and was inspired by advice from a mate.

Pills for your Ills

No I don’t want to take any pills for my ills
And these ills that I feel aren’t a big deal
But they’re real to me, and important enough
That I need them to stay and each day
Be there to remind me or find me in a reverie
And make me smile when I think for a while
About You and me and us, about the past.
About how much I miss you and wish you were there
With me when I got that job, and turned
Expecting to see you there with me
But that was too late, you’d gone months before,
Long before and I’m on my own,
With no-one to celebrate the little things,
The hundred-times a day things when you take it for granted
And share a laugh, or a smile, or even a thought.

To sum up, don’t flick that lid, or pop that pill
Do you want to lose that feeling, that reeling feeling
That makes you feel alive, just remember
The good and the bad alike make us who we are.
