Poetry: Contentment

This is a piece of poetry that I am content with its content. If you be content with your own contents too, you will be content too with whatever life gives you to contend with.

Contentment only ever comes from loving life unreservedly

Contentment is only possible from loving.
Life is not complete in its in-completion.
The frying pan syndrome loses you hope,
because you fear being burnt before you're ready.

When we try to augment our assent, we descend.
We resent each segment not seeing it in the whole.
Our torment about each event creates some lament,
until we be contented in everything just as it just went.

We're told to be thankful for all that we have right now.
Contentment in the small creates happiness in the big.
You ruin life being un-content with what you have not,
if you don't take time to find contentment where you are.

If you want too much you'll be discontented in regret,
but leave too many goals unmet they'll become a threat.
We must grow outwardly from within to maintain contentment.
Try to do the opposite, you won't find where contentment went.

Thought provoking, Spirited. When one is too content we tend to become lazy. But if we are not content it will show in our general attitude and people around us will loathe us. We should be hungry for the right reasons. For myself - change what I can for the better and accept those I cannot - has served me well - siva

thanks siva,

balanced contentment then might be the best way to go.

Maybe active contentment is better than the laid back type, as you indicate.

Good morning, Spirited. Echoing Siva; this did make me think. Nicely done. ~Marilyn

Thanks Marilyn,

the use of double negatives always makes people have to think about the real meaning, that the writer meant......

Thanks Helen,

Poetry does need to have a ring or a flow to it I think

Yes ~ I agree ~ Spirited.

Although I enjoy reading poetry ~ I am not inclined to venture into trying to write it. At least ~~~ not yet.
