Poetry: We've Got Nothing

Three little observations from my own perspective.

We Have Nothing

We’ve got nothing new to tell
Nothing to gain and nothing to sell
Unless there’s a demand
For musings where we dwell
A difficult task that the writer must foretell

We’ve got nothing shocking to say
It’s all been said before, it’s all cliché
Unless there’s insight
Of critics tools and creative wordplay
Prevention against the obsolete, tres passé

Tough Guy

Presenting a tough guy image to the world
Fearless and bold, is the no-nonsense warrior
Yet, unashamedly popular, confidence in numbers
War wounds galore with talking points to explore

A mean machine who stands in defiance
Burning with rage and the power of aggression
A lethal mix of adrenaline and testosterone
A testament to brilliance, and defective science

These Kids

Independent and strong, an adolescent mind
Peer influenced labors, a developing worldview
Proficient and certain, a developing humanity
Never wrong or deliberately unkind.

Superiority of teachers and parents, challenge words
Forget about history, it’s been and gone
A plan unprepared, the future undetermined
Even perfected personalities don’t sever binding chords

Expectations of adulthood, and how it should be
Certainty with timelines and algebraic expression
Hope for a new path, unconstrained by hate
Still mindful of others, youth holds the key.
