This is about friends growing apart in life and moving in different directions

The Stranger I Once Knew

You feel like a stranger to me
Someone I no longer know
Our existence together adrift in the wind
Suspended in a whirlwind of a time from so long ago

Are you still that you I know in my mind
The person I remember you to be
Or have you spun a web of a different beauty
Reaching out like the mighty Willow Tree

I do wonder from time to time about you
As I look out at the vast universe at night
Is your experiences in your journey what you hoped for
Since your destiny you chose to rewrite

There are times in my daily travels
I watch the world rushing by so fast
I do wish some days to stop it if just for one moment
Maybe in that instant it can take me to the past

Yet we keep moving further away not looking back
Learning new souls as we move along life’s twists
Yet never really forgetting what we left behind
Knowing that it’s hidden there in past journeys mist

So a stranger you might be to the present me
It is true the future me is yet to know you are even there
Yet the me of yesterday does think of you often
That is something time nor destiny I doubt will ever tear

It is so hard not to think of those who were once so close, and that perhaps we want to be close again...I thought this was a wonderful way to say those things...A wonderful poem.
