This is a poem about a boat called "Pride of Inchkeith"

Pride of Inchkeith

In early December, one late afternoon
When the sun was about to make way for the moon.
A V.I.P party were piped out from Leith
With a Christmas present bound for Inchkeith

The Pilots were there and Seal Carr too
An emotional sight as they came in to view.
All but one knew what was in store
As this special flotilla headed for shore.

First there was Noel and the BBC crew
Who jumped from a boat be-ribboned and blue
A stranger it was, never seen here before
Yet ‘Pride of Inchkeith’ was the name that it bore.

We called out to Kathleen ‘Come down to the boats’
She had been tending to Blitz and the goats
‘Noel has arrived for your interview
To find out how Christmas is spent here by you.’

The cameras rolled, the crew were all found
We watched from the hill, but didn’t have sound
Kathleen and Noel jumped on the boat
Rabbie, determined to have them afloat.

P. and O. Ferries had sent up a man
The boat was their present all part of the plan
He pointed out details, gave her the keys
She turned to Noel, ‘Can I have him too, please?’

P. and O. Ferries, what can we say?
You sure made it Christmas in a really big way
A Christmas to last every day, every year
From Granton to Inchkeith we can go without fear.

Some journeys are urgent, when we need a vet
It can mean life or death to a sick pet
Other essentials are fuel and food
We don’t have to wait now ‘til weather is good.

P. and O. Ferries, Hip, Hip, Hooray
You’ve helped us all out in a magnificent way
‘Pride of Inchkeith’, a lady in blue
P. and O. Ferries, it is all ‘THANKS’ to you.
