This is a poem from my heart of hearts. I am not looking for any awards or accolades, it is simply something my heart tells me to do. I hope you will read it with an open mind and heart.

Problems in the Middle East and the Directions of a Miss-guided President

Problems in the Middle East and the Directions of a American President

We are such a pacified bunch,
We Americans.
Each in our own way
Too busy to give a damn
About what goes on in Washington?
Too busy
To step outside our comfort zone
And change the paradigm.
I mean,
We have to pay the rent first…Right?
And no one wants to be a boat rocker.
No one wants to stay up all night
And dig into the problems,
Come to an understanding
Of the monstrous thing.
The blatant theft and corruption
Of our elected politicians (on all sides).
I mean, after all,
We have to go work in the morning
Just to keep our own little boat afloat,
So why bother educating ourselves?
It’s only our children’s future
And the future of the free world
That’s at stake here.
The country and the world,
They’ll get through it all right
Without our help…Won’t they?

That's the Gamble

I mean,
That is the gamble we’re taking…Right?
Just like it was for our grandparents
In the nine-teen-thirties
When they were too busy
To give a damn
About a few persecuted Jews.

It's not that we don't give a damn, Utah, it's that we are powerless to damn those in power.

Utah, thank you for sharing your thoughts. I had to smile when I read about boat rocking. I've been a boat rocker my entire life. It's not what I would call the easy road. The only problem is like LeRain said we are powerless unless we come together and that usually doesn't work either. I wish I knew the answer. Blessings to you!

Thank you Jessica. I used to write about politics quite a bit. I was once a campaign manager for a man who ran for the U.S. Senate, not because we thought he would win the seat, but to hand out copies of the 5000 Year Leap...4000 thousand copies to be exact. Know I am the vice chair of my caucus. I know Senator Lee, Congressman Chaffits, Congress-person Mia Love. I even got to introduce my wife to the Governor when I gave a speech at one of the county conventions. I just thought it was time to start again as I have been silent here on wikinut for far too long.

Thanks Carol, and never think that you are not heard, they put a lot of weight on the letters we write.

Thanks Nancy, but don't for a minute think that we are powerless. Write letters to your representatives, call them, let them know where you stand. As I understand it, they count one letter as a hundred voices and a phone call even more. Blessings to you.

Thanks Utah for your comment. When there are important issues I do believe I will try voicing my opinion by phone. Maybe it will work. Blessings.

Well I suppose the pros would be that nothing happens, but being that the sands of the Middle East are now red with blood it may well be too late for that.
Thank you for your comment Saigon, but I am old Marine. I ready for anything.

Where do you find an honest politician? I still think that there may be a few but of course even they won't please everyone. I guess the answer lies in an educated public who really take an interest. If we could get people to pay attention and then a better than ninety percent turn out at the polls we'd have to say we get what we've asked for. Blessings
