A personal observation of the author on the proliferation of plagiarism in macro blogging. a serious crime that can put anyone into trouble be it a professional, or a student.

"Profile of a Plagiarist.."

“Everyone has the right to the protection of the moral and material interests resulting from any scientific, literary or artistic production of which he is the author.”
― United Nations

"Intellectual Thieves"

Reading some of the great articles from meritorious member in another site I found out am not alone hunting down these intellectual thieves also known us plagiarist. yes Plagiarism as defined by Merriam-Webster:

pla·gia·rism noun \ˈplā-jə-ˌri-zəm also -jē-ə-\
: the act of using another person's words or ideas without giving credit to that person : the act of plagiarizing something

After having my first email address since 1994 and seeing my own student over the last few years it's easy to chronicle some of their profile based on the many accounts and articles I encountered.I'll tell you some are really shrewd, unassuming simpletons, innocent looking wolves in sheep clothing often in lesser cloth and more skin literally. By the way for fear of copyright violation to their own rights I will simply rephrase and give some synopsis.

The following are a examples of write-ups found on the profile pages for various plagiarizers::

  • Exhibit A:

  • "the only way to do great work is to love what you do Put to me 10 likes = I will put to you 10 likes :D Put to me 15 comments = I will put to you 15 comments :D .."

  • Exhibit B

  • "I'm simple, honest and humble. Im an affiliate marketer, freelancer, and blogger .Connect me via my instant messenger contacts. Whatsapp: @ 14344 54 666

  • Exhibit C:

  • (with a blonde bimbo image)
" hi i am a good cowgirl with great dreams, do like 5 of my posts and i ll do the same to you and i comment"

  • Exhibit D :

  • (after record breaking copy-paste binge )
    " MdrF***R doesn't have a bio yet

Are they familiar to you? Were you not entertained? I am exposing them now and profit some dime for this creatures. What's your experienced about them, c'mon share it and lets digest their kind,

"I think almost every newspaper in the United States has lost circulation due to the Internet. I also think the Internet will lead to a lot of plagiarism in journalism."
-Will McDonough

Sadly the above quote could be very true as the clock continue in favor of easy access. To continue this simple dissertation about these thieves (sic) I know several if not too many of newbies are hating me for this exposé but someone had to put some standards specially everyone are into the same medium here -writing.
Am not a self righteous crusader nor a modern day online Don Quixote trying to chase the wind but some misdeeds have to end and we can't let them continues.

The wanton disregard on simple rules is proliferating seemingly unabated. I've noticed and commented to several post with this malpractice of copy-paste mosquito mind syndrome. Can you imagine a post directly copied in toto from Image to content to even (video)link. It's embarrassingly funny but some of these "members" are even demanding release of their "earnings" as if they had hard time doing this crime and earn their share of the loot.

I am a humble educator and grew up not remembering I'd done a project or homework with the aid of any member of my family, perhaps this explains my set of standards for original works. Recently it breaks my heart seeing my students doing this crime due to the easy access of this materials via few seconds of copy and paste. One confused (grade 11) student even replied to me " I do not see it a problem, everybody are doing it" . Though he. Is probably right because the class he was in had 80% rejected work I red marked. still it doesn't make it right.

Look at this blatant SPINNING OF ARTICLE about Mango Tart:

This one below is the original article published in food52dotcom:

"Author Notes: I love that you can use mango in both sweet and savory applications. I chose to highlight a dessert. The mango cream is adapted from the genius recipe (…more) -sdebrango

  • "

  • The plagiarist practitioner simply deleted the word "AUTHOR NOTE:" including the subject pronoun "I", then proceeded to spinning::

"adore (LOVE) that you can utilize(USE) mango as a part of both sweet and exquisite(SAVORY) applications. I decided(CHOSE) to highlight a pastry(DESSERT). The mango cream is adjusted(ADAPTED) from the virtuoso (GENIUS) formula (… more) - sdebrango "

Really am having a head ache laughing and nauseating on disgust! HE even copied the original author's own by line "-SDEBRANGO"!

    "Embarrassingly funny..."

If you give values to you hard earned education and every minute you spend to write your own articles then this scam artist surely will give you reason to read more and guard your own sweat and make this site a better place. So consider the following:

    • Check the title or one sentence on first paragraph and google (any search engine would do) it. Copy paste & search will make the expose easier.

    • Check the unusual variety of topics he/she wrote.( you be surprise sometime she claims to be a doctor next time she is a gambler or good cook)

    • Be snoopy on the volume of his works in too short of a time.

    • If googling give similar topic or article and blogger is in funny grammar chances are she.he is using spin off apps.

    • Check the writing style, while this is quite advance, A reader need not to be a teacher with language degree to know. If you been following this person and notice several changer on his style, grammar and diction.

    • Report your suspicion to site administrator orpagemoderator or similar technical staff maybe contact person handling this things (they know what to do next). Sometimes it could be that the person is the actual writer of the similar post using new pen name.

    • Lastly and this is optional If you are serious in your profession (especially for teachers and even web site creator and staff) am sure you need "plagiarism check" to protect the interest of truth, fair play and cheaters,

These violators might be your friend, colleague and follower etc but they are plagiarist, literary thief intellectual property larcenist ! Beware of them, prick their bubbles, don't be afraid to lost them as your followers because good karma will give justice for you.

Believe me, good guys finish their race head up high (though not always first) and you will earn your writing with dignity like how you earn your education.Lastly you can be the virtual "Crime Buster" you can be using your good sense of (factual) judgment by being vigilant. As Thomas Jefferson puts it : “Honesty is the first chapter of the book wisdom.”

    What's your take on this?

plaigiarism is wrong, spinning sometimes comes out very awkward and many people just rewrite. It is hard when it is not your work, but all good writers of health articles and so on give source, and " " the quotes

I believe, the quoted/direct speech from an article has it limits and only done (professionally) by putting a footnote of the actual source. if it's too frequent citation on an article.

yes there are many people who try to find ways to cheat. It is sad. Recipes seem to be the worst, and tech articles. And spinning is awful too, horrid grammar.

True, however I did some recipe article but it's more on the story behind the food and the experience in (re)discovering such fabulous menu on my travels or my own kitchen adventure.

Well many like to imitate and copy but the truth of how life is made is seen the essence in being you.
The first known Racist Plagiarism in music was that of Chuck Berry's hit which was done by the Beastie Boys Surfin' USA. He was put down only because he was black and the latter a white group and he successfully sued them and won the case but the number is still more famous as theirs than with him.
Truth is these are what brought about the Copywright certificates for all musical rendition and written works etc. They cost a wee bit but it is worth it.
Well ask Johnny Dod about your star, he eats them, he took mine off when I was writing on Wikinut back in 2011.

Is plagiarism stricted to other form of arts and works only? Millions I believe are guilty on watching movies via torrents sites without having any centavos landing on the producers of great movies.
