wondering about the fate of my generation and happy with the life I lead for at least a few moments while I smile.

Reasons for a Smile

On our pavement
the air shakes
with platonic dialogue.
Thoughts about man
and god and law.

Though we roam
and wriggle the
after rain worm paths,
there's asylum in the the grass.
Home movies for the
folks back home.

Film sepia
squinted memories
and laugh the wonderful
colorful felonies
of those best among us.

Buoyant beings
rising ever upward
through bio-luminescent
weekends, hit the surface
and fly, shining flocks
among the clouds.

Can we be better?
under the cover of darkness
we turn to one another
and dissemble far less.
There's body under this dress.

And something else inside
it's hard to explain,
it starts in the eyes
and ends in the brain.

You've got something
goin for ya
and I like it.
