A tribute to the brave men and women who lost their lives on December 7, 1941, and to those who served in WWII.

Sunday, December 7, 1941

At 7:53 a.m. on Sunday, December 7, 1941, Japanese fighter planes attacked the U.S. Naval base at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii.

The air raid lasted until 9:45 a.m. Eight battleships were damaged, with five sunk. Three light cruisers, three destroyers, and three smaller vessels were lost along with 188 aircraft.

2,335 servicemen, over 1,000 aboard the USS Arizona were killed that day, with 1,178 wounded.

Pearl Harbor Remembered

Nearly seventy years have come and gone,
Though we will never forget.

The 7th of December "an infamous date"
Said our 32nd President.

We will remember always
those that died that day.

We think of them especially,
on this, Pearl Harbor day

You may ask, "Why did it happen?"
Their deaths were not in vain.

Nations that were torn apart
United once again.

Just as those brave ones before,
And since, in every war,

We'll look back and give thanks.
Our Freedom they died for

Thanks, I didn't see too much in the news about this tragic day in our
country's history.
