It is time for each of us to take the lead, call the bluff of our leaders, make it clear that we want real action to uplift the majority than endless theatrics and finger pointing. Leaving a positive legacy is the purpose of life.

Light the spark of positivity

Our lives are not even a blip in the whole scheme of creation; in fact, humanity will also pass like all others – a sobering thought indeed. And to see few behave as if the sun rises for them the way they lord over others! The upstarts are everywhere, also the hypocrites; but the good outnumber them, thankfully! We need those with positive attitude to change the world. Where else to look for them than starting with us? And to find and light the spark lying dormant inside us with a nudge and we are then on our way, never to look back!

Defeat Negativity

One has to take a deep breath every now and then to make sense of our daily news. Everything seems to be in a vicious circle, a drama to gain attention for the wrong reasons. Greed is the driving factor and justice to the common citizen remains a mirage. One gets easily pessimistic that things are unlikely to get better any time soon.

In my own way, I rise above general inertia and cheer things up around me. Life is still a joy if we have the right approach. Though it is a fight for most to keep our heads above water, we still manage to carry on day-by-day. We are not business tycoons to rack our brains for building empires. As long as we hit our beds with a job well done each day and look forward to another, we have done our part.

The biggest dampener is reaching out for what is not within our grasp. Then we sink into perpetual gloom that our lives have lost its purpose, meaning. When we find reward through helping those in need, lending a helping hand, guiding others, even just acknowledging their presence, our lives will find its meaning We will get some purpose to look ahead with confidence.

I always get sustenance and encouragement from nature around me. It has gone from strength to strength to fill our days despite our over-exploitation of finite resources. It fights to maintain its balance but with needed warning signals that our actions are going overboard. But some feel such view is alarmist, but that shows more trust in its capacity to adjust and forgive our excesses!

The few among us who feel that things could be better, that we are on self-destructive paths, should strive harder, like our mother nature does, to redouble our action to spread the word of caution that our future generations lives should not be sacrificed by our foolishness and self-indulgence.

Enough is enough

We have to break out of the rut of repeating mistakes and give clear signals to our leaders that we cannot accept business as usual. We need action to lift the majority out of the poverty trap, and more important, give them hope and meaning to their lives.

When I see news headlines of one crisis after another, it is easy to deduce they all stem from our lack of resolve to sort out issues through unity. We want the drama of division and theatrics, but don’t we also need the all important action to trump mere posturing that we see daily?

Let it start with us

It finally boils down to us, the common citizens, to call the bluff of our leaders. Their task is to find solutions, not to point fingers endlessly. Let positivity trump negativity at every turn and for that the good among us have to make a start, not to be cheer leaders for leaders who just thrive in dividing us. We have to rewrite our daily news headlines to give us the spark to launch a future filled with hope. It is well within our grasp. In fact, it is the very purpose of our life.

Greed cannot be feed enough to satisfy the appetite. What do you think about term limits for Congress?

Greed feeds on greed like absolute power corrupts absolutely. Once you are in the race to get richer, it is tough to let go! We need to exercise some control at every level and have speed breakers. Politics has become a profession and many carry on till their last breath, and they also live longer! Thanks Ms Ann - siva

'We have to break out of the rut of repeating mistakes and give clear signals to our leaders that we cannot accept business as usual.' Very well, but who will bell the cat?. Again a good post as usual. Thank you Siva.

The problem is our leaders are actors appealing to our instincts and emotions. When we make it clear that the blame games should stop and we need positive action to solve our basic needs, they will get the message. Sadly, we cheer them on when they ridicule their opponents and it becomes a vicious, endless circle. So the common citizens have to say - eniough is enough! Thanks Pradeep for your visit and comments - siva

What uplifting words, dear Karim. I wish I could be some leader but politics is not easy as it is a business everywhere and leaders look for quick monetary rewards! But we can change the system if we stop the present coterie of leaders who take the common people for a ride, time and time again! siva
